v1.14.XX Balance Document - Thoughts and Discussion Thread

This is moreso to counteract the buffs to the Blast-cycle playstyle that went through last patch, with speed affinity now giving Magic endlag reduction on their skills. It’s meant to be a thorn, we’d like to revert it once Mage gets more skills and they finally move away from ‘Blast beam blast beam blast beam’ ad nauseum gameplay.

Adding a tip about cone check when using related abilities has already been suggested (I believe), hopefully it does end up happening.

Yeah, at the end of the day I suppose that stretch of time isn’t all that long, but it may affect new players’ perspective

Is that the only buff Thermo is getting? What’s the status of Thermo in the meta

At max heat, Thermo Fist is honestly fine. 0.775x damage with burn, and its speed was returned to its prior 1.4x at max bar. That being said, building up Heat isn’t super practical in most 1v1s. When you’re there and can maintain it it’s great. Getting there, not so much. This is just meant to nudge it in the right direction.

I’m begging y’all to make vetex consider kebinds :sob:

Blasts and Beams are kind of weird to me. Blasts can travel farther than beams, but they’re better when you’re a little closer. Maybe I’m just not holding the button and waiting for my opponent to stop moving enough, or something.
Now that I think about it, How long will it be until people start replacing beams/placed explosions with rare/lost spells entirely? I doubt that many will replace Blast, because it’s the best move in the game it’s fucking Blast, but I’ve already seen someone only have it binded to their second magic.

Is crash going to get attack speed scaling changes? It still loses half its distance at higher investments.

Can we get actual numbers for the Vatrachos power scaling, I’m sure 0.6 and 0.4167 mean something to the balance team but to me this looks like you’re making Vatrachos worse than an enchant.

This is something that we want to fix, yeah. No promises about it being on doc since this behavior is a bug, I believe, but we’d like it changed.

This and the cone check would make berserker relevant outside of 300 size Selino. Also uppercut.

Vatachros Chestplate is losing 1 Power, and the Boots/Helmet are losing 2, I believe. This just makes them conform to the EP ratio for stats, since drawback is now worth -18 EP due to its new scaling.

Then just say that in the balance changes

speaking of selino, i happen to not have attack size on any of my fighting style builds.

Vetex doesn’t need the current numbers for Vatachros when it can still be leveled, he needs the numbers for its scaling, which is what is provided.

I don’t see anything about that Atlantean Essence nerf here. Did you guys backpedal that after the backlash? Because I still think being able to nullify the drawback of EVEN MORE STATS isn’t a good idea.
Speaking of Drawback, is there anything you guys plan to do about the defense issue? Or was that only a real problem on builds that have, like, 6 drawback or more?

Yeah, I’ve been doing it doing it since day one.

I think the virtuous enchantment is getting a large defense cut.
