Hey all! It’s been a while since Venia has been mentioned here.
The original version was awful, clunky, and felt horrible to play. I’ve been cooking this up for a while, and this is now the third rewrite of Venia.
Controls are as shown:
Q - Dodge
F - Block/Parry
E - Grab
R - Ready fists
Left click - Attack while readied
Block beats attack, grab beats block, and attack beats grab. Hold F or M1 to buffer a block or attack to send it out as soon as you’re able to.
When you block, your Block Bar takes damage. When it fills up, you get staggered. Parrying reflects some Block Damage to your opponent.
To cast spells, hold right click and use WASD for spells. Each spell has its own keystroke:
Light - WDSAW
Extinguish Light - WASDW
Communication Link - WASDA
Fireball (you’re going to need this one) - WAS
To lock onto a player, look at them and hit “tab” when the blue spirit orb hovers over their head.
Currently, I am trying to gather data on race balance. To organise a duel between two players (that’s the only way stats are tracked atm), walk up to someone and ask them to duel, 1v1, etc. The other player has to answer with a form of “yes”
For example:
“Hey, wanna duel?”
“Sure.”
This also extends to party invites, by asking someone to join your party.
The four races are as follows:
Lorna - big guys, big strength. slow.
Ethian - purple guys, magic based. Low strength.
Avisimor - bird guys. fast, fragile
Caelian - jack of all trades, “human”
Venia can be found here, and will be open until next Sunday at 14:00 CST.
current to-do list (and suggestions forum) can be found at https://guilded.gg/roselight
