Vitality/Spirit rework

I was really looking forward to spirit imbues granting lifesteal instead of hp+drawback, it would’ve been awesome.

also what is up with Paladin? spirit imbue is meant to increase size right? i tested it and it makes 0 difference what the heeeeeel

lifesteal with NO health drain would be op

I just think if the rework goes through they should lessen damage reduction, since an imbue shouldn’t have that big of a downside, and vitality maining hybrids should be viable without making the other part of the hybrid useful (cough paladin cough)

The problem with vitality before, which I was fine with because of theming alone, was that every perk had something to cancel it out.

Vitality Adds Health - Make it reduce damage too
(this is simply worse, because you lose out on skills from a pure build)

Vitality gives spirit weapon imbuement which undo the damage reduction, problem solved. - Now let’s also make sure that it takes health to use
(now you’ve undone the problem that you solved, but have added stat build stuff)

The answer wasn’t to completely remake the thing, all you had to do was remove the drawback effect, and it’d be just fine.
The health is no longer cancelled out by damage reduction because of imbuement, they now get an appropriate amount of skills through spirit weapons, so making it take away health is just unsolving the problem.

The drawback is the coolest part about spirit weapons

But it’s getting removed in the rework too.
I suppose you could also just get rid of the damage reduction and make the imbuement solely for stat purposes.

See? There were multiple solutions, and we’re stuck with a whole new stat completely replacing it.

Okay, you’re right, so what about the other solution, to remove the damage reduction, and make imbuement solely about stats and synergies.

It already does, it just has weapon mechanics instead of magic mechanics.
That’s what Strength and Vitality do, they copy Magic and Weapons, but only half of each.


Looking on the Trello under v1.16, you’re able to find where the changes to vitality awakenings happened, Paladin and Juggernaut don’t have any size increase from their awakenings, however Knight does because it’s previous awakening was Warrior’s, which slightly increases skill size.
So no, Paladin is not meant to get an increase to its skill sizes from its awakening
