Maybe Morden isn’t a bum and Death is just a mid ancient curse. Like I still can’t even think of how Death gets a benefit out of the properties of being a curse aside from… being bigger? Grand fires might just be one of the better magics for that stuff.

AO isn’t technologically advanced enough for anybody to realize how insanely busted infinite energy release is, so i don’t know what Prometheus figured out to call Inferno one of the strongest; but i mean… it’s a magic that wouldn’t struggle to kill anybody, it could somewhat contend with death in that department?
inferno, aether flames and scorch were always listed as ancient in the official ao trello a few years ago
iirc, the trello gave each grand fire magic a characteristic
inferno - blue hot flames that burn for a reaaally long time
aetherial flames - they’re really bright, that’s about it
darkflame - makes the user stronger or wtv
scorch - explosive or wtv
promethean - all of the above but to a weaker extent
Actually I think it’s only a few that need spirit unless we’re assuming all grand fire magics need you to be legacies and not just scorch. There’s also equinox, shatter, blaze, and probably apoc bringer. I think I theorized some others but I don’t have my mutation chart on me rn. (Yes I know you said most, I’m just being nitpicky).
