yea its not a crashout cause it only says the word “fuck” once and its in a good way
He just needs to disable it in fort castrum I swear to god an npc gets stuck in the wall EVERY TIME
Without fail
And then I have to brew a revealing potion in the hopes of finding and pulling (blasting) the ensign out of the wall like a lost hamster
line of sight checks sometimes dont even work and you’ll hit people through walls/get hit through walls anyway
The way it works is there’s a line connecting the player to the npc, and the npc can only suffer dmg if that line is not obstructed. This can lead to stupid moments where a blast directly hits the enemy, but because they got under a corner last second it blocked the player-npc line of sight, causing the attack to deal 0 dmg.
To fix this (other than improving enemy AI which is the hard way) make it deal reduced dmg, if somebody has enough aoe to explode the entirety of silverhold, that should be doing dmg to the npc inside albeit less.
said band-aid features never get added
Everyout get out there and vote to remove it
Why did we get a whole spell for shooting through walls if Vetex doesn’t want us shooting through walls?
Spell that has also NEVER actually worked for me
if we need to keep the wall AOE patch i had an idea
im wondering if its possible to check if an npc is inside of destroyed terrain (ex. crater in the ground), which would then enable AOE damaging that npc through walls or the ground
if this is possible and would actually work then it’d prevent people from spamming attacks at enemies through a wall and also prevent things like Fort Castrum enemies becoming invincible by being trapped 4 feet into the ground
thats just an idea and i have zero idea how that could be managed (i think itd depend on how the game treats destroyed terrain)
though in my opinion it shouldnt exist at all because our attacks are realistically (aswell as shown to be via terrain destruction) more than powerful enough to hit enemies through walls, even if the wall itself doesnt get destroyed in-game. This might be nitpicking but it just feels incredibly off to not have your attack that can create a crater in the ground not hit through a normal brick wall
So tldr I’d prefer if they made it harder to actually cheese enemies with this method instead of making said method impossible (ex. minibosses in more open areas, maybe enemy AI disengages to go into a more open space if its too enclosed, or if it detects itself getting stuck?)
i think raycasts can be affected by collision groups, but ive never used them before so i really cant say.
I just went to fight Rear Admiral Amelia and she just got stuck on a wall. Due to LOS checks, I couldn’t deal any damage, and getting close means tanking a 500 damage gravity blast. This kept happening with every bit of destroyed terrain too.
The mechanic that was supposed to prevent cheese just ended up making the fight impossible normally forced me to resort to other cheese.
The first time I ever fought rear admiral amelia, I got really lucky that she got stuck on the stairs, and I knew by then that if I moved to a place I could hit her, she’d kill me instantly. BUT, I found a perfect sweet spot, at the very height of a T jump, then spirit blast at just the right spot. I’ve never been able to replicate it, but I got the dang cape.
She’s really easy to cheese just jump up onto the cliff and shoot her from there
The fact that shes still this easy to cheese proves that los is a failure and a net negative on the game btw
improve boss/miniboss pathfinding (like wom pathfinding temporarily if they lose line of sight for 5 seconds) and remove the LoS check
is this only for stuff like buildings or also for regular ground?
