Warrior Awakening Rework (Aura Imbuements)

Warriors have the least interesting awakening by far in the game, taking a note from Oracle’s book, it should have something similar that allows for deeper customization without being too powerful.

Warriors now gain a special type of imbuement they can apply to their weapons, called an Aura. Upon first awakening, you learn a singular Aura, simply called Battle Aura, which acts the same as Warriors current awakening.

Battle Aura: 5% Speed, 2.5% Damage, 10% Size.
A standard form of Trace Magic imbuement used by all skilled warriors. It amplifies the wielders attacks.

Throughout the War Seas, the player can find Warrior mentors who can teach the player new types of Aura Imbuements after completing a brief quest similar to a Fighting Style mentor. Examples Include:

Swiftstrike Aura: 30% Speed, -5% Damage, -10% Size.
An advanced form of Trace Magic Imbuement that greatly amplifies the wielders speed, at the cost of damage and size.

Rampage Aura: 15% Damage, +2 Drawback
An advanced form of Trace Magic Imbuement, it works by pushing yourself beyond your limits, dealing greatly increased damage, at the cost of harming yourself.

Sweeping Aura: +20% Size, -7.5% Damage
An advanced form of Trace Magic imbuement, it massively increases the size of attacks, but decreases their potency.

(These numbers are largely spitballed, and would require further refinement from the Balance Team were this rework implemented.)

You can know 2 Aura Imbuement types at a time, and can go to a mentor to relearn any you’ve forgotten at any time for a small Drachma cost. However you always know Battle Aura, and it cannot be forgotten.

Reason to add/change

Warriors could do with a more engaging awakening, theirs is easily the least interesting of all the classes. This would both reward Warrior players for exploration by finding new mentors, as well as broaden build diversity.

I’d want this, if and ONLY if Imbuements are changed to actually have their settings saved between lives and servers when switching them off. It’s mostly a problem with my Oracle, since I run the EP (not like I have a choice, literally can’t use Ult Arts on two of the five available Relics); I don’t have the Athena Imbue on her yet, so the game defaults to having Poseidon’s Imbue on it at all times.

Game freaks out for a bit if I don’t equip the EP for a while, and ends up re-enabling the imbue when I don’t want it.

One part of me wants to say that this makes it too similar to other imbuement awakenings, but also who cares we love imbuements.

yeah sure, seems fitting enough and lines up with other awakenings

It’s meant to mirror Oracle awakening the same way Zerker and Mage’s awakening mirror eachother. Oracle gets different God Imbuements it can mix and match, so Warrior could get different Auras it can mix and match.

this would be so good, i was warrior at one point but the awakening was just so damn boring, a slight stat bump is not good, this is good, i hope vetex sees this

I wish that weapon aura actually brought out the aspects of what it’s used with, as it was stated in the pre-release/access awakenings cards.
This is one step closer to that, so it’s earning my vote.

im not warrior but sounds good

This is perhaps the best weapons awakening rework idea. Besides just giving players one weapon slot by default and giving them more via weapons-related awakenings.

I don’t know, Warriors DEFINITELY need an updated first awakening, but the game doesn’t need any new imbuements imo. To me they felt like something exclusive to hybrid classes (not sure whether that was the devs’ intention or not) while pure builds got to “break through” and receive more of their class’s respective power. Oracle is a bit odd with the God’s soul imbuement (don’t have an Oracle save so cant talk much on this) but at least it makes sense lore-wise i guess lol

@Dudeman

no
reason: no
conclusion: i hate warrior

Dude— this sucks on: Paladin, Juggernaut, Knight, and Savant. All four of these are also butchered by imbuements not properly saving.

My second biggest problem is the fact that the God Souls don’t show their names, so you have to guess when it does change.

Anyways yeah, justice for Warrior. Ever since I heard of god souls, I’ve thought that it’d be fair for Warrior to get some kind of “Aura Manipulation” as to not just have the Oracle awakening stripped of all its good parts.

please vetex, warrior practically doesnt change when they get awakening

I think I like the idea. I’m a little concerned by the Drawback of Rampage Aura, especially as it otherwise has nothing bad to it once you add a little Regeneration. Maybe they should make it reduce Defense, or Block Power?

This reminds me of Arcane Apotheosis, or just Apotheosis.

iirc, advanced users can imbue Apotheosis shockwaves in their attacks. Although it could be imbued on any attack.

I think warrior awakening is already good. I mean, warrior is someone who fights only with weapons, meaning they do not posses any magic spirit or energy. Current awaking makes sense for a guy with no magical energy (although it’s boosts could be increased). The only thing I would add to make warrior less behind is adding more new skills and weapons.
