Obviously don’t derail this either and keep it civil.

I think that making Warriors’ awakening a fourth weapon slot would not only be boring but also pretty useless outside of niches.

Isn’t it like mages getting 2 more slots on each magic? That’s pretty useful

Somewhat, but you might as well get 8 more with a new magic instead.
It’s too banal for it to be ever considered as special. Imagine how let down an expectant person would be when they discover that their awakening, unlike others’, only gave them one weapon slot instead of a new magic/fighting style or an imbuement.
All first awakenings aside from warriors’ give new tools to mess around with; A fourth weapon slot gives you the ability to make use of a new tool, but isn’t a tool by itself (nor is the current minor stat increase, no gimmick is added).

i feel like this is what imbuements are to be fair…
its just a really shitty imbuement

but I did really like the stronger bleeding idea, wherein by honing your skill and imbuing more trace magic energy into your magic you become capable of inflicting “gouged” or “bruised” depending on the weighjt of the weapon

imbuements also get status effects (which warrior don’t, it’s dependent on the weapon’s stats so they basically are mini-magics).
Remember when AO had yet to release and the awakening of Warriors was listed as giving gimmicks to weapons based on their traits, allowing for now-obsolete ones to still be relevant (extension/implication)?

lol. this is an ironic idea but itd be funny and cool if they got something akin to shinobi prosthetic from sekiro. Essentially it’d appear as a 4th weapon slot but you can only put “tools” in there instead of an actual weapon. such stuff you could put include grappling hooks, firecrackers or a giant fan to give you a mid air jump

if this got added i would never doubt anyone on the ao devteam again holy shit

nah fourth weapon slot would be great
at least it’d be 10 times more interesting than whatever the fuck we have rn

I think you found the solution holy hell; probably a couple balances but i think this is it, Mark this as the solution to the post.

Warrior awakening: Warriors Trinkets, gain a new slot that has 5-8 different options (so that the awakening doesn’t give items to clog inventories + be useable as soon as possible; 5-8 because warrior is about variety), the option you pick will be a 4th item you can always use.

I could probably make another set of options, but i genuinely cant say enough how well of a solution that is: 4th slot without being boring or giving Warrior too many offensive options + it feels apart of the class, Weapon builds usually hybrid into others by creating unique tools for that class, since we’re already getting artisan weapons, this works to be new without overdoing it.

anything would be better than giving us a glorified pat on the back

So basically an Artisan Weapon that makes use of the imbue interface in order to give you gimmicks on the fly.
I’m not marking your reply as the solution (yet) because there isn’t really a way for it to work since Poseidon doesn’t give you a physical object for your first awakening. Though I must admit, it’s a really good idea that would work well within the game all while adding an added layer of complexity to the otherwise bland Warrior class through moment-to-moment ‘imbuement’ changes.

reading this reply has given me the drawback you spoken of, it would be quite wierd for warriors to magically gain an extra weapon set; and, again, I dont want to add more inventory clutter + leave warriors without the bonus after awakening for too long.

I think making it use “aura” in some "advanced way"™ could kinda work:

Instead of getting a new item, they “shape” their aura to create the function instead of obtaining an object. I still believe that this would be something done from the inventory; Warriors versatility is always confined to the tools you have on hand, and it feels like giving them a whole list of “imbuements” would be overkill (think of the Savants). Just say that its too complex to do on the fly, Warriors still get an imbuement key afterwards, encase they don’t want every weapon to have the effects.

anyways imagine this:

from the inventory, a warrior can pick one of 6 “imbuement” auras for all their Weapons.

These (only one, I’m too lazy) options are:

Coiling, which makes abilities pull targets. Coiling projectiles will also pull the user towards the impacted surface, this effect is stronger when it doesnt hit an enemy. Hitting with Melee skills will pull them at weaker effect. This effect will be ignored if the projectile goes to far, it can also be stopped by blocking.

  • the others, I’ll call the other effects he made Sparkling (for the firecrackers) and Fanning (for the fan).

I think that this might take away from the original idea, but would probably be easier to fit into lore. idk, but i didn’t have any other thoughts for it.
