That should be next weeks discussion because… man oh man there are a LOT of ways clans could end up just making the game unfun.
Comparing the blox fruits “story” to arcane adventures is treasonous
At least AA had a story
true, ive played through some of the blox fruits first sea and dont even remember it having a story
I played all the way up to the 3rd sea, and the only story you get is a few lines of dialogue from the dev’s self-insert
honestly theres really not much difference between quest giver npcs in blox fruits and the chief and guy at savaria in the first sea
story actually begins in aa in the second sea
imo ar really improved the dialogue of the characters in 1.1 but its still not great
dont get me wrong blox fruits story is dogshit and whatever little bit of story there is in the game is completely fucking forgotten by the fact that it comes once every 1000 levels
fun game but i’ve found it boring with lack of content and i dont like dark sea tbh, prob one of the few pve players who dislike it or haven’t done much with it. I dont think i’ve even gotten to 2nd range i dont get how people get there so easily
the games definitely fine but mfs will bring out all their slop to slander pvp, pve and whatnot to their last days
He HAS to make it right or else it will turn in to a pre-rework deckhand situation.
he said in the qna that it was the update he was most excited to work on, so i imagine hes got some good ideas for it
As long as I can achieve max attack size explosions I agree to everything
Early Access . I have no qualms.
Fair enough
- State of the endgame
Endgame is kinda all there is right now.
- State of the current story content
Story so far is pretty decent. I do feel like we’re setting up for something grand. It’s a bit like Deltarune when only chapter 1 was out—it felt short and kinda underwhelming because IT WAS THE FIRST CHAPTER. Same deal with AO. Give the ‘tex time to cook.
- State of pvp
PVP is kind of always in the endgame, and the current systems encourage the most toxic behavior possible. I still think a thought experiment of no random PVP should be tried, even if for only a week.
- State of balance
Current balancing philosophy is “gut disembowel anything that was ever remotely good, then slightly improve something that really, REALLY needs a massive buff”.
The devs continuous fail to realize that the more you inflate stats, the harder it becomes to balance. Personally, I think we’d be in a better place if T2 enchants were weaker, and if armor gave less stats overall.
One last thing: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, REMOVE RANDOM NPC BLOCKING AND PARRYING.
Flashbacks to AR dialogue with angel where she went on a whole emotional shpiel and your character’s response was “Okay, cool.” or something along those lines. 1st sea story was pretty much “beat up guy X in place Y” though
yeah they noticed it had less soul than a multi-billion dollar corporation and tried to improve it in 1.1 and they did but not by much
Endgame? I just make a new file, I have more fun coming up with new looks for characters than I do playing on a complete file. It’s very barren, all you have is an endless grind in the dark sea or PvP
I enjoy, and I look forward to more
I don’t PvP much even though I’d like to, but the insane attack speed, attack size, and attack power builds are definitely a turn-away. I think the new update might bring around a more dynamic meta due to defense being split into two stats, piercing existing as a foil to defense tank builds, and stats/stat efficiency being reduced across the board meaning everyone has to split their accessories, enchantments, and jewels across multiple stats if they want a functional build or make concessions with stats and adjust their playstyle around it. But who knows how it’ll turn out, maybe everyone will be running piercing glass cannons or indestructible regen builds and it’ll suck again, or it’ll be a metropolis of 800 viable builds
also like rdr2, first chapter was short and not as good as the rest of the story, which was an absolute masterpiece. when many people first play the game they might get put off with the “boring” first chapter before giving the rest of the story a go
We can’t really completely judge the story at this point since it’s only really on the introductory stage.
But I do think that we still can judge it based on how it’s establishes it for the rest of the story in the future, and I honestly think it manages to be great at doing just that. It manages to succesfully establish the world in which it’s established, it manages to get you to know and care about the characters it has introduces to you in spite of the short time that you got to know them, and most inportantly it manages to captivate the player into wanting to stay interested log enough for the actual good stuff to begin.
In conclution, I think that at this point the story is pretty good and it will only get better.
The story is ok, but the dialogue is sometimes corny af
