What could there be more to the dark sea?

What do you think could be added to the dark sea in the future? I personally believe unique dark sea magic vegetation could be added and it could also vary based on the biome you are, both to make islands more dangerous and unique and also to make them less empty, cuz you know, aside from trees, rocks, structures and elevated terrain there isn’t really much to islands right now

and also if we ever get some sort of biologist profession we could use these to make unique remedy to give our character buffs idk

Naturally-spawning Elementals. Like Vetex can just use magic pollution as an explanation as to why they form. And I mean like actually unique Elemental types that aren’t just glowing r2.0s with magic vfx slapped on them.

Some ideas include Gravity Elementals having small chunks of terrain orbit around them that they occasionally use as part of their attacks, Acid Elementals disguising themselves as a puddle amidst regular puddles and ambush players who draw near, and Sound Elementals using echolocation to detect threats.

You guys know when you follow a ghost ship all the way out to a singular piece of cargo that gives you a single chest item? Give those some actual unique loot, or just a guaranteed T2 scroll if nothing else, so they aren’t just useless

Add currents or slipstreams which make getting to your desired insanity level faster. It currently takes 4 minutes or so of sailing with a maximized speed brig to change insanity layer, which is a really long time to just be doing nothing waiting to play the game, and it’s only slated to get worse with future updates if we need to keep going farther and farther out just to get content our level.

Just more enemies on islands beside the atlanteans + sirens, id honestly want some more types of unique islands too.

Something more plant based, like a island thats just a massive tree you need to climb on or hostile plant-like npcs

Raidable forts would be cool, like a giant Siren rock, or an Atlantean hive, or giant castle ruins haunted by a prowling dragon. I wonder how feasible it would be? Hopefully it wouldn’t lag any players in the main sea, and vice versa.

Unique fruits and mushrooms like in the original dark sea card before vetex said they weren’t getting added :sob:

i think its because of a lore reason
those cursed mushrooms in akursius keep cause insanity when you eat them since theyre loaded with magic energy
wouldn’t dark sea be the same way but worse? like if you eat it you get something similar to water poisoning (though this could change if the fruits and mushrooms adapted to it and became like massive fish that manages to still be edible despite dark sea’s seawater supposedly being toxic) but im betting on this being the reason why

Yea maybe vines or big chomper plant or something

Weather/events

  • Whirlpool thats so large it extends down to the sea floor, physically swirls your boat around when your stuck in it
    • Maybe add an ultra big sea monster or boss at the center, super lurkers
  • Tornado/hurricane thats so big it goes above the clouds (maybe dark sky weather), pulls up the ocean around it so basically the whirlpool but in reverse
  • The super heavy rain I mentioned earlier
  • The clearings thing I mentioned earlier
  • Ever hear of ball lightning? That but ancient lightning, big red orbs that fall from the sky and explode like cataclysm blasts
    • Could have something similar where there’s hail the size of brigs
  • Maybe some death stranding type shit where dark souls reach out of the water and try to drag you down
    • Could also work with Atlanteans or something

Sea monsters / creatures

  • Idk big shit, make it island sized
  • Less so specifics, more so what I think sea monsters should be like- I think most abyssal/appolyon tier sea monsters shouldnt be avoidable by just running on land and spamming attacks like with white eyes- you either have to kill it or run tf away, they should be able to target/go on land (ofc depending on type, no shit something like kahunawa wouldn’t be able to do that). Also they shouldn’t always one shot you like white eyes :wilted_flower: (especially for boss fight type ones)
    • Everyone gangsta till omen starts crawling onto land
  • Big turtle that’s an island or somethin, has trees to repair your boat either (remember you can do that in FR!), it drags your boat along with it due to currents or something, so you can just park next to it and hitch a ride
  • To add to the mimic (made by Edwin) idea from earlier, I think they should maybe occasionally appear like just barely in the players line of sight, vaguely resembling players, but dashing away silently (like a player) if you come close
    • Ts should go all out, split open rib cage, blood coming out of the eyes, skin peeling off, dead smile, unholy screams, black tendrils that let it go up walls insanely fast and throw players like rag dolls (VERY IMPORTANT THAT IT BE SHADOW ADDED AND NEVER REVEALED ITS ONLY FUNNY WHEN NOBODY BELIEVES ITS REAL)

Islands

  • Swamp type island that’s super low so the ocean is kinda waist high, dark sea alligators there :cowboy_hat_face::crocodile:
  • Artic poles (i think vetex mentioned these before maybe) with like, mutated polar bears or some shit ig, maybe a big boss arena bc it’s all flat or something
  • I just want like a magius sized islands :sob: but spooky. Like whispering forest but it actually whispers like some horror type shit (ideally with rivers so you can park your boat throughout it)
    • Make it look abandoned and some shit, and go with my previously mentioned idea of mutant creatures jumping you out of nowhere, picks people off ect. Maybe the previously mentioned mimic like watching you behind trees before running away

a secret dark sea society of human who are capable of inhabiting it without becoming atlanteans

Lizard thing- (no I don’t have a good name yet)

  • A creature evolved over hundreds of years specifically to be an apex predator against humans and Atlanteans, spawns in the far reaches. It looks like a big lizard, almost the size of a sailboat in length, with long limbs, and no visible eyes (scp 939 looking shit).
  • It hunts players, stalking them from a distance till it decides to strike. They are more likely to spawn if there is a large party of players. They will stalk the players, picking them off when they are alone or till they outnumber the players.
  • While stalking players it changes colors to match its background and any material it touches. It stays just outside the players line of sight, peering over edges. It runs away silently if a player approaches its hiding place.
  • It is capable of following players between islands, swimming extremely quickly, able to match the speed of players boats. While doing this it can call for others of its species to assist it in hunting you.
  • It can run extremely quickly, able to sprint down players and also pounce at them. It can also climb up any surface, being even able to hang onto ceilings.
  • Their attacks include whipping you with their tails which has massive knockback and a stun when you hit a surface, stomping/smacking the player, which ragdolls. Slashing which gives mild knockback but also bleed. It is also capable of grabbing players in its jaws when they are 25% health or lower, releasing them if they are hit.
  • When they finally build a big enough pack, they will ambush the players. While all attack, lowering all the players health till one can be grabbed. At that point the others will continue knocking the other players back while one runs off with the grabbed player. Once the player is to far to be saved the others will run off as well, killing the taken player. If enough of the creatures are killed they will attempt to retreat.
    • When they retreat / succeed in taking a player they will heal and wait a few minutes before performing another ambush.
  • If players are dispersed or sufficiently outnumbered, they will begin hunting (This might happen rightaway in some cases if there are few enough players :man_shrugging: ). They make loud (velociraptor esc) yelps, to communicate to each other while hunting around the island looking for you. If one of them sees you, they will all be told of your location. They are also able to use this to tell where you are not, so they can find where you are from that information.
    • They are able to use sounds from things such as abilities and players taking fall damage to find you, other sounds like dashing/high jumping wouldn’t alert them immediately.
    • Other creatures like atlanteans / mutated animals can be seen being mauled to death and having their corpses torn to shreds.

ngl enemy mounts would go really hard, like a bandit mounted on a bear being capable of dealing extra damage because of the bear biting you and also having more durability or smth

Dark sea orcas that destroy the hell out of your boat and thrash you to death (in packs)
Would probably be about white eyes size each? (Considering white eyes is mutated from a normal shark and orcas are defo bigger than any normal shark)
