What do you guys think about Vetex adding a battle pass

its mainly just an idea of something to add in case income on the game slows down and/or I run out of features to add, in no way would it be a high priority to add and if it becomes a thing it probably wouldn’t be for years

I see, in that case tbh it doesn’t really make a difference, I was under the assumption it was going to be a really major thing that if you didn’t do youd be missing out on a lot like most games, but if it’s just like a fail safe with no (high) priority it sounds fine

edit: I just rememberd that this battlepass is supposedly paid, which is still a big turn off, since with the (planned) frequency of said battlepass the average f2p player could potentially be missing out on hundreds of items, over time maybe even a thousand plus, and I do not really like the idea of locking customization behind a paywall, but there’s probably going to be a lot of vanity in base AO anyway so I guess it makes it a little better

Sounds good

This is what makes it bad

But its the only reson he will add it

I don’t give trust to developers because it’s been proven, time and time again, that people should always see things with a grain of salt. Otherwise, Cyberpunk, everything Ubisoft, and tons of other roblox game devs making stupid decisions would just repeat over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. (See how annoying that is?) Therefore, I hope you don’t know what to tell people when they think they see flaws in your decisions, because even implying that criticism shouldn’t happen is, frankly, wrong in every way.

And, unrelated, but if you don’t want to see criticism then why do you even go on the forums? I don’t imagine that you just come here to get your dick sucked all day or even to just have light discourse with other people because there are infinitely better alternatives over this hellsite.

Now when you call something a battle pass, I don’t think you should be surprised when people take it for face value and apply the most common definition to it when they criticize it.

Obviously, you can tweak things and everyone with a brain knows that, but is it really that hard to pick a more accurate description instead of just saying “BATTLE PASS”? (Yes you said vanity-only but that’s basically every battle pass and you’ve also made it clear that this decision isn’t just a “maybe” considering how much you’re defending it)

That’s what you think, which is fine, but I think that it’s a little ignorant to assume your way of implementing these sketchy things like battle passes aren’t gonna cause problems with your player base. A player base that includes people who you clearly listen to a lot because you still talk about them complaining about WoM’s early release to this day.

Point is, I feel like you’re pointlessly making yourself and your game vulnerable to problems that people are going to complain about, making you waste more mental energy going back and forth with them that could be used for bettering the game. And this is especially true when you announce far-out things like battle passes and only reveal important details like how you plan it to not be totally scummy when people don’t assume the absolute best out of it. (Although I still think all battle passes are bad, underplayed or not)

People lose immersion in every immersion & world focused game when there are any microtransactions built in the game, barring MMOs but even then that’s still true for some people. Even though Roblox is a highly different case riddled with microtransactions, I think games like Deepwoken or Isle, with which you share a portion of your player-base demographic, wouldn’t be as popular if they had more intrusive microtransactions, let alone battle passes.

That concludes my essay complaining about the way you’re going about this battle pass decision. Yes, this is your game blah blah blah, I’m just suggesting that this roundabout way you’ve been making decisions will hinder your game. And also yes, you should do whatever you want with your game and I agree with that, but I don’t think you’re doing that at all, otherwise, you wouldn’t even be on the forums defending yourself against a nobody that’s who knows what age I am.

why

The keyword is exactly implying because that’s something you’re also assuming.

You see, all devs have the right to defend themselves from criticism.

Let’s say you attacked another idea, wouldn’t it be fair from the dev’s side to defend their ideas?

Also, he debunked any issues you might have had with the battle pass.

So you’re saying that a battle pass, something that gives EXTRA vanity items, is going to cause problems with the player base? Based on what and how?

Based on the fact that they could take lots of hours, even days or at worst weeks to complete?
Or that people are going to feel pressured into buying them?

Well, vetex has confirmed, in this topic, that he has thought about all of these possible issues, and that they won’t exist if the battle pass is added in AO.

It is also ignorant of you to assume that microtransactions that affect nothing gameplay-wise will make the community reluctant to play the game.

Arcane Adventures had animation packs and the ability to use more colours for your ship, yet people liked the game and played it up until its inevitable end.

My brother in Christ, the ability to look cooler with animation packs or have muscles with a gamepass doesn’t ruin immersion; it just makes it better if you’re planning a certain character or like playing around with vanity.

Also, how would extra vanity slots ruin the game?

Like I said, devs, and more precisely everybody, have the right to defend themselves from criticism, even if it’s from a nobody.

Verdict

This is just a subjective stigma, that’s it.

I can surely understand why battle passes are disliked, yes, I also dislike them, but if a dev literally tells you “guys, it’s not gonna work like you thought it was going to and it won’t force you to grind a lot or pressure you into buying it,” then what else do you want?

its under monetization ideas so i would assume it would costs money

He confirmed that it would be so he could get some extra income if the game dont go as well as we think. He also said that its not planned to release it when the game is done, if it will be added it will be a later feature. Also PEOPLE CHILL nothing is predetermied

Then just don’t add it

is there really need for a battle pass if theres a daily login reward?

There’s not supposed to be a need for a vanity gamepass. It’s just something players buy to look cool and support the dev

After Vetex’s explanations I don’t really understand why ppl are still so against it when it’s nowhere near a big deal

It’s VANITY. You’re not getting any actual advantage by buying it. Like Vetex said, it won’t work in the way we think

What if IT LOOKS COOL AND IM POOR

Like mostly of the battlepass games is vanity only, Valorant, Fortnite, etc but they are still desired super much even tho they dont do anything storywize. Good looking vanity is even more desired than a normal like xp boost or anything

Lets hope vetex is right

yea i read vetexs replies and there’s no problem with a battle pass typical vetex W

Wouldent call it broken when we are the ones who created it
