This isn’t a fighting style suggestion, but rather a post where I’m asking you all what ideas I should pursue and write in further detail on! If you don’t know who I am, I wrote the suggestion for Muscle Coiling. I’ve spent a while brainstorming the basics for a fair few new ones! I’m creating a multiple-choice poll, so people can pick the ones that sound the most fun or interesting to further develop into a proper suggestion. None of these details or names are final, they’re all just simple outlines of some of my most thought-out fighting style ideas.
Edit: By the way I’ve been adding a lot of polls to make some decisions on stuff in the replies.
Beast Instincts [Base Style]: A base fighting style in which the user attempts to imitate beasts and focuses on honing their primal instincts and raw physical power. Hits with this style which deal 5% or more of the target’s HP as damage inflict injuries that reduce max health the same way as main story injuries but fade faster and go away completely on death. At very low health (like less than 15%), opponents can be inflicted with limb loss or heavy bleeding for NPCs. Stat-wise, it’d have decent damage and speed with slightly lower attack size. Visually, the user grows real claws from their fingers (as opposed to vampirism’s bone claws) and has very animalistic animations when attacking (think beast claws from Elden Ring). At high levels, the user releases visible steam from their mouth when they breathe.
Sightless Path [Base Style] [Lost Style]: A lost fighting style in which the user forbids the use of their sight to truly master sensing and wears a blindfold. With this style, the user is stuck constantly using an enhanced version of sensing and becomes effectively immune to all vision-obscuring effects. For a very brief period after successfully parrying an attack, the user automatically evades all attacks due to their heightened senses being fully focused. Users of this style also hard counter all but the most powerful invisibility/aura-concealing methods. Stats-wise, this style has just slightly higher attack speed than full adrenaline Thermo Fist, with fairly low damage and average attack size. This style would also possess an instant dodge reflex. At high levels, glowing ripples spread out from the user’s feet, indicating some level of seismic sensing ability.
Titan Strength [Lost Style]: A lost fighting style in which the user’s size is permanently increased additively with any other sources that may be in the game, increasing as the player gains mastery of the style. Half of the focus of the style is on increasing the user’s base health and granting the user a lot of innate resistance to their attacks, with the other half being on empowering the clashing of all the user’s attacks to nullify incoming attacks with your own slow strikes. This would be a very defensive style that makes you feel like a proper juggernaut. Stats-wise, its speed would be somewhere around Iron Leg with slightly more size than Sailor Style and good damage. At high levels, the user’s heartbeat becomes so loud it sounds like a pounding drum when they charge.
Aura Condensing [Lost Style]: A lost fighting style where the user trains themself to release as much of their aura as possible when attacking, condensing it into clouds and puddles of pure magical energy when attacking colored as pure white and, in the case of warlocks and savants, being tinged with the color of their first magic. These clouds and puddles fade quickly, not harming others but instead buffing the user and their allies when inside and fading even faster as it absorbs into them. Clouds from this style would replenish energy and stamina while puddles add seconds to a short-lived and strong buff to damage, speed, and attack size. Stat-wise, this style has below average and equal stats in all three categories with fairly high attack destruction. At high levels, pure magical energy visually drips off the user like viscous slime when charging and fades into sparkles before hitting the ground.
Inner Path [Lost Style]: A lost fighting style in which the user attempts to utilize both their own spiritual and magical energy to coat their limbs in both to greatly enhance both their offensive and defensive abilities, this act being immensely draining for the user. This requires embedding a gemstone that functions as a spirit weapon into the middle of their upper back on the spine, it most likely being tied to Prometheus. Mechanically, this style would have immense energy drain on every attack and would limitlessly drain from both health and stamina after one’s energy runs out to the point of killing the user. It also makes the whole user’s body lighter, resulting in the user falling slower and traveling pretty far when high jumping or dodging, their entire body and soul unburdened from some mortal limitations. Stats-wise, this style would have equally above-average stats in all categories for a lost style. At high levels, spiritual energy and magical energy combine into a hagoromo/tenne/floating shawl that gently floats behind the user’s head and over their shoulders. This might be more of an ancient style due to its theming, currently unsure.
Draconic Awakening/Progeny of Typhon [Ancient Style]: An ancient fighting style in which the user has taken part in a dragon blood ritual using the blood of the most severely mutated kind of dragon possible or perhaps Typhon itself, permanently altering them. They grow a tail, reflective scales, and wings that can fold up inside their back to be fully concealed. The color of their scales is the same as the user’s first magic, just slightly saturated. Mechanically, the user would lose the ability to wear armor but not accessories and would have a wide range of passive bonuses that apply even when not using the style. These include a spread-out flat bonus to every single positive gear stat scaling off of style mastery and the user’s level, as well as a percentage bonus to all gear stats based on style mastery and remaining health percentage. The user would have access to a unique breath attack using their first magic type, which is a drastically larger version of surge with a long wind-up and end lag and a loud high-pitched whine when the user starts to activate it. This breath attack has its own meter that refills passively very slowly outside of combat. The user’s breath weapon reduces in size and damage the lower their remaining health is. In terms of mobility, the user has access to wings that, when unfurled, allow them to rapidly drain their stamina to move very quickly upwards and straight forwards, hover in place while still being able to attack for a moderate stamina drain, and transition into gliding with significantly reducing stamina drain when angled downwards depending on the angle. The speed of flight reduces the less total remaining health the user has. Stats-wise, this style would have incredible and fairly equal stats in every category, which also reduces the lower the user’s health gets. At high levels, the user’s eye color changes to the color of their first magic and glows, the glow growing brighter and bigger and everything around them shaking violently when they charge.
