What impact do you think the existence of Deepwoken will have on AO?

anyways i think i’m going to sleep now since i hiked like 2 and half miles in a forest while going around a town and shopping prior and only got home less than 2 hours ago

lmao my bad i’m just bored, voicing my perspective, and just general wanting an understanding and try not to be berating too much.

to which i apologize if i ever am and what not it isn’t fun ;-;

money is money, if the testers are unable to share anything about the game, and the very little leaks that we get literally tell nothing about the pve/pvp of the game, then I am not spending a cent on it unless I have genuine confirmation it is enjoyable

vetex, as far as what I can see from the trello, is prioritizing the wrong things. He’s first finishing details and features that should be done AFTER the main game has been completed
(here’s a really good example: )
image
why the fuck were any of these features implemented before major things such as fighting styles were introduced. It’ll only lead to rushed major gameplay issues, and refined lesser features

what if too many issues occur all at one? game is doomed, similar fate to AA

a team of experienced devs who have used criticism from their past games to build a better game vs one stubborn dude who milks the same idea

no that type of endgame content is not there. There isn’t enough unique builds to create the idea that “oh there are an infinite number of possible combinations!” every build is derived off magic, and there is 100% going to be a meta when it comes to pve/pvp grinding, and not choosing that meta would make grinding horrid.

what?? what endgame did it have? after you completed the story there was literally nothing to do, you could make another file with a different magic but that isn’t all that interesting. All the magics are effectively the same except with different visuals and different clash effects.

:skull:
also I’m going to bed now

You can, actually.

Man these are very horrible criticisms.

Vertex has already said that when the game is closer to release and lost magics are implemented that he’s going to let testers release more videos. Paid early access is already a thing in gaming and if you have an issue with paying one dollar for it you can just wait a few months until the entire game is release for free.

We have no knowledge on enemy variety at all but we know that enemies can use all player skills, and probably has enemy exclusive skills so there will be different strategies against smll

AA was highly popular for a Roblox game when it was released and people played it for hours even though the amount of content in it was extremely small. If you weren’t on early Roblox you wouldn’t understand. AO is a highly modernized version of AA with a developer who now has years of experience.

The combat is esoteric as it’s not an m1 focused game but one focused on air combat + aiming, which may appeal to certain people and also offputting to certain people. However people were entertained with WOMa barebones early gameplay and so far the amount of variety and improvement we’ve seen is a huge step up and he has testers that he can ask for advice to fine tune the PvP.

I’m not a fan of traveling with boats cause I sucked at it in AA but it’s boat travel was one of its appeals when the game was out, and from what we know the system is deeper and more customizable than ever, especially compared to other games on the platform.

Vetex is not just focused on features, as he just added multiple weapons with different fighting skills, plus unique weapons with their own skills, and features are apart of gameplay. The bottle system was a small and quick feature added and balancing ship combat is apart of gameplay. He’s already said that focusing on doing PvP only for weeks on end burns him out so he adds small features in between working on combat. You’re picture is also a recent example, the last months we’ve seen him add new weapons, boss fights, islands, etc.

You claiming that Vetex is milking AA for making a sequel is just nonsense. He’s making a highly request sequel of a classic game and heavily modernizing it. If this was just about money he could easily just listen to what many people have been telling him to do for years and just make AA and heavily modernize it, he wouldn’t have to start almost completely form scratch when it comes to gameplay, story, islands, etc.

You’re missing the point with your endgame criticism. After you complete the story, the gameplay loop will be boss grinding, clan fighting/infamy grinding, sea clan wars, item/spells/techniques hunting and trading, exploring the dark seas(which randomizes itself), and minmaxxing gear. There may also be post game story quests bosses. You’re heavily complaining about gameplay when obviously the gameplay loop requires fun gameplay. You’re basing all of your knowledge off of WoM when he updates his trello daily. He’s going to wait until the game is released and all fighting routes have a base set up so that he can fine tune it with the help of testers. You bring up magics being similar but pure mage is just one route and he’s been saying for almost a year now that magic gameplay gets fun when you can wield multiple magics and synergies them, as well as obtaining lost/ancient spells/magics. There’s about 10 different routes you can go, and the only routes that look sort of stale are the vitality routes and savant but savant is just kind of a default route that won’t be unique until the game is nearly finished(when players have a lot of points to put into each category which will allow them to gain a lot of skills) and vitality builds will get spirit weapons which will come with exclusive skills.

We can speculate all we want but just wait until the game is near release and we can actually see content, or just test it out yourself for a single dollar. The testers seem to be critical of AOs gameplay but from what I’ve seen from them they say that it’s a step in the right direction from WoM, so just actually wait awhile and come back in a few months instead of whining about gameplay that you haven’t even seen

indeed

Games are something to experience. You’re criticising a game you haven’t even played, and you’re doing so out of some irrational hostility.

Granted, it is possible to make out whether a game will be good or not based on the information developers reveal to us. However, I personally don’t think you have enough experience or knowledge to determine whether AO will even be good or not.

Vetex is already transparent enough to where you can easily tell AO will be a good game, and he always provides clarification and answers so that the community will usually never make any unrealistic expections of AO. Unlike fucking Deepwoken.

to prevent burnout

are you stupid? Roblox games as a whole are terrible because devs only focus on features such as visuals and combat, systems like this are what set my games apart from the others because I prioritize gameplay and game enjoyment first

If you think me expanding a fantasy universe I created and was one of the best RPGs of its time is “milking the same idea”, i seriously don’t know what to tell you. It being set in the same world and having similar features isn’t milking an idea, its expanding on the game and making it better, in the same way that criticism does. also I’m stubborn because I don’t take feedback from random people who haven’t played my game? This is just a super negative and biased outlook

Don’t criticize if you don’t have accurate information

this might come as a shock, but… wom was nowhere near a finished game :scream: the game was rushed out early because I was literally too poor to continue working on it, and since it didn’t have “early access” or whatever in its title, people were disappointed they didn’t get some 500 level rpg

based on everything you’ve said you seem like a deepwoken player who joined the platform after AA’s time and you have a super negative outlook on AO because of WoM, which is fine, but keep that negative energy out of here and just wait until the game is out to criticize things you know nothing about

He wants to get up to first awakenings

When you’re a deepwoken player

i like pvp but this is whats making me play AO:

(legendary tier-8/7 battles)

Does everyone here realize that two games can exist at the same time? There is no “oh DW will die or AO will die”. These are two SEPERATE games with totally different points to playing the game.

I think it’s dumb to even think one game will have an impact on another especially when DW is new, and AA universe has been around for years, ideas built upon one another. So to simply dumb this down to what game will affect one another is stupid. I can tell you for sure that vetex won’t be copying DW shit. I can’t say the same for DW devs when AO is released

Idk I guess people will play the games I think

Wait a second THATS MY TRADEMARK 'DNC" IMAGE

Cant have shit in forum

In terms of quality and fun, AO is probably going to violently beat Deepwoken to death, but there will still probably be people playing Deepwoken even after AO releases.

I like how everytime deepwoken is mentioned on the forum it causes mass pandemonium on any topic and instantly summons the forum elder gods (the m*derators  )

that is actually a problem for every game that ever existed.
