Wait really?
About a year ago people were acting like he was going to start them up in only a few months.
I’m starting to think that December 2022 might not be enough, maybe mid 2023.
dec 2022 is when paid access will be available to play ao at whatever state it’s in but for full release which isn’t paid access and free will likely be mid 2023
might be later but we’ll see
hypocricy almost…
an immature dev who takes personal issues to the public for his inflated ego almost guarantees the game is fucked, he’s not going to take any criticism from his testers because it’ll ‘hurt his ego’. It has a lot to do with ao’s development.
I’m assuming you haven’t read the trello fully at all, any genuine and close inspection of the trello will show that, again, he’s added only a few new features, most of the other major features is shit like enemy AI, magic sensing, fighting styles, potions, ghost ships, sharks, clans, whirlpools, large waves, bounty hunting, injuries, shipwrecks, island capturing, treasure charts, legendary ships, and awakenings were all things already in AA.
And then the new shit like weapon casting, arcanium weapons, water spouts, newer sharks, cargo trading, hunger, cooking, meteors, etc. are all just glorified versions of something smaller (besides hunger and cooking).
yea and then he has balancing those sets of weapon skills, and then he has to deal with the deep seas which he hasn’t even talked about whatsoever in his leaks, which implies he has not touched it at all.
not a single one, unless you can show one
it was literally created by fromsoftware and they popularized it
100% he’s gonna use that as an excuse for unbalanced pvp and unfinished shit like fighting styles because he was too busy focussed on other things
Oh, my bad. That’s good then, I guess.
Personally, I think it’s kind of warped to essentially get people to beta-test your game for you for money (ideally having players essentially help you without a salary should at least be free) but this is the state of the gaming industry so it’s not like it’s a specifically Vetex issue anyway. I also understand he might want to get a steady stream of income while concentrating on the game, though I have no idea about the state of Vetex’s wallet anyhow.
I came into this topic and saw a lot of words that were pointless to me so I’ll just post this:
first off, how is any of this a bad thing? hes basically rebuilding aa from scratch, of course he will have to readd these features
vetex adds way more features than is listed on the trello ideas anyway, the new renown and execution feature is something that wasnt on the trello before being worked on
im gonna stop arguing now because this isnt changing any of our minds clearly so its just making useless spam, i dont think your criticisms are necessarily bad just a lot of them are pretty minor or have nothing to do with the game (like those 2 testers, i dont know them or vetex so i cant really say if youre right or wrong on the maturity argument you were making, but it was irrelevant anyway)
then it isn’t ‘far more content’ is it?
yeah and they’re all useless or quality of life, they arent actual features
it is relevant, it just shows how he isn’t in the proper mindset to make a game, this isn’t necessarily a passion project, it’s a project to inflate his own ego and not put him on the streets.
yeah some games have that problem but for paid access it is only going to be 100 robux or 1 dollar so it’s not entirely too bad and it’s mainly for ppl impatient to play like me
one presumes you mean the dark seas but yeah he hasn’t touched that and not for a decent bit
but i’d imagine it wont be too hard in terms of loot rewards and the like since chest tiers are already in the works. crates can be floating about and ship wrecks can be put in too, but we’re going to have to wait on the randomly generated aspect of it.
which in of itself already sets it’s time amount for it since random generation has it’s own set of problems to do. mainly in the forms of bugs the assets aren’t really an issue.
bro, what do you expect, it’s going to be whatever state the game is and go along with development till release. it’s the equivelent of early access games on steam in their alpha or beta state.
it’d be a let-down if it was like this, considering how grand of a name it has
again though, he’s going to use this as an excuse to any criticism he faces
also I’m going to bed now
can you do anything other than be a pessimistic asshole?
I mean seriously, you show up here and start screaming about shit you couldn’t possibly know less about and prove that you don’t know shit about every second and yet you insist on screaming about how you apparently know the entire game from start to finish.
This isn’t the first (and it DAMN WELL won’t be the last) time we’ve had an argument like this with the topic of “game sux” so let me remind you all:
There is absolutely positively no feasible way that vetex can please everyone on this platform.
The order and the way in which he adds things is not something that we can control. I’m not sure what exactly you want from him because it seems to you that every action he does is bad. Unless you are a tester i’m not then your chances of influencing this game are slim to none, no matter how much we complain on this thread.
You’re not wrong about development being slow, but you are being extremely critical.
Not just on an unreleased game that we can’t even play, but on it’s dev too
After skimming, Dogs had a far better (and more mature) conversation with you than I ever could, so i’ll just leave it at that even if your response completely refutes me
All we can do is wait, see how this turns out, and do other things while we wait
Also-
If this wasn’t a passion project, then it wouldn’t be in the AA universe.
the main part of it is supposed to be like an endless dungeon with insanity and come back alive with the loot ordeal. with bonus of more loot and the higher chances of lost spells, magic and ancient magics and the like. and be a buffer to entering other seas and what not.
None of these make sense. Are you reading what you wrote?
First off, he probably making it paid access, so children won’t rampage over it and complain about every singe detail. Also, he worked hard on Arcane Odyssey around a year now, and it’s about to hit two years in October.
Second of all, nitpicking every single thing about the game isn’t going to help, is it now? Testers are supposed to give feedback not nitpick. Plus, they threatened to leak the whole game which would be MAJOR spoilers He probably publicly did that so people would know why they were demoted.
The game is still a Work in Progress, which all things aren’t complete or finished. We should’ve never got PvP leaks in the first place because the only thing it does is cause drama and people trying to point out everything wrong about the PvP in game. In my opinion, PvP looks spectacular, especially the clip of two testers battling in Frostmill.
All things highlighted will take time.
I honestly don’t know why people don’t like small features; they won’t cause harm. Also, we can expect that the Dark Sea, Grand Navy, Fighting Styles the 3rd set of Weapon Skills, and Mobile being added will take a couple of months to make. Vetex probably wants to clear up the small and medium features first before moving on to the things everyone’s waiting for, the major features.
ehh i wouldnt say my conversation was entirely “mature” (i was arguing over a lego game after all, and i went into it knowing i wasnt going to change anyones mind)
honestly i think this sums up the entire argument better than anything
so yeah im gonna leave now, it was interesting talking and seeing different viewpoints on the game
nope. I’m blocking this page since its pointless. I’ll say it right now. I may be wrong but Arcane odyssey will be different than Deepwoken and attract different players.
tbh it’s sort of distanced itself from dw by this point but yeah think this is the time to let this thread die at this point.
minds weren’t changed and it’s just ppl, which includes me just voicing our perspectives and thoughts without much change and push back really. good and bad criticisms galore.
on the side of maturity and what not i don’t have much to say about that, i don’t really think arguements or debates are mature in a sense. but thats besides the point was mostly looking out for things being civil and not just childish insult dog piling. at least for me
gonna keep it bookmarked since it does serve as insight of the current state of affairs and a “nice” look back to
Funni little topic with a ludicrous number of essays and paragraphs
ㅤㅤ
As a guy who played deepwoken, there are parts I disagree with
At this point, are you just being a troll? In that case, I won’t further feed you.
