optimization for me, ever since the dark sea update, ive been lagging so much more often, making the game near unplayabe. The dark sea really needs to be in a seperate server

It really is a shame more people aren’t on about the game’s pitiful optimization, which has greatly hindered my enjoyment of it, PvE OR PvP. It messes with your movement and reaction -so- much that I’ve been considering dropping AO and waiting for something to be done, even though I know darn well they aren’t going to prioritize fixes at all.

The complete and utter dingus-level stuff they say in defense of it in the vetcord is astounding, like magicking up some nonsense about needing a PC built specifically ‘for’ Roblox and not ‘gaming’, but I guess that’s the place to go if you’re feeling a bit chilly and need a place to go where the thermostat is run by the average IQ.

I have a buddy who can’t even fish because the game consistently lags every time something is hooked- Warlock is still in a dire state involving its imbue and lag, and I do not need to open my console and see nonsense about Atlantean ships a gabillion studs away across the map.

Yeah, I’ve been noticing my performance taking a hit lately. For some reason, especially on my Conjurer, I’ve had periods of time when my inputs take 7 seconds to register, whether it be t-jumping, charging, or using an attack.

Idk much about this so any criticism is welcome, but i think AO could work alot better if it was single player and leaving the PvP for Elysium

Do you get the brig spawning in but then all the parts fall to the seabed and after a lag spike it spawn normally? Ikea brig.

Tbh, i feel like the lag suddenly worsened in Roblox in general.

I noticed lag spikes now happen whenever someone leaves or joins the server. And when I played another game, the same thing happens now, and said game is nowhere near detailed.

Vetex also noted fps dropping can also be caused by waves hitting stuff due to an old Roblox bug thats STILL THERE SINCE AA.

A lot of optimization and lag is also caused by the fact that Roblox itself runs on CPU than GPU apparently.

This all just circles back to that same old points that people have said here: That this game is on Roblox.

Though, I do understand why he wants to stay tho. He’s literally been coding games on Roblox SINCE 13. I’d probs refuse to move on from that if I were in his position tbh. He’d be starting by scratch once again if he moved on.

Yeah, At least vetex doesn’t owe Unity 5m dollars.

Now that you mention it… it actually a good thing that Vetex didnt go there, cause damn.

Though, Roblox is unpredictable, so who knows what theyll do in the future

older audiences on roblox are a confusing target since they still play games you’d think younger audiences would play.

the ‘semi - fully niche’ game enjoyer on roblox is much smaller than ppl who would just play anything on the front page… it makes them money, and no money = no roblox. sad reality

they don’t purposefully ignore it - the reality is the game just isn’t significant enough. these older hits were something everyone was talking about on roblox since it was very small - now I’d be surprised if Arcane Odyssey even resides within the weekly top 100 games.

i really do miss the curated featured games section. it allowed smaller developers a spotlight and a chance to get their game out; and now it’s very random. rather disappointing for discoverability (#1 for smaller dev traction.) you need to resort to word of mouth more than ever

It’s still his job to optimize his games to the constraints of the platform he’s developed it on. If he’s so stubbornly insisting that he expand the game to his vision, he needs to find better ways to do it. I’ve been on this hellscape of a platform for ages and I know bad optimization when I see it. I don’t notice the issues you ‘seem’ to be having with other games. It’s quite literally only AO that runs this horribly for me and many, MANY of the people I have in my side of the community.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t and probably won’t be any effort put into it and he’s relying on players like you who’ll take the tired excuses they shovel out to do nothing about it. He needs to figure out how to “PROPERLY” cull things going on far away and reduce the gross SFX spam they use as an excuse for an artistic expression of power. He could start with separating the Dark Sea from the main game, but we’ll just have to wait and see if that ever happens. (Probably not)

Dark sea being separated is impossible due to dark sealeds, vetex said there’s no good way to keep them when you switch servers

like you get back to the bronze teleport and it’s like “unloading ship…” and then it does that and you teleport back
sure then you can’t get your shit stolen by other players but who gives a shit? this game’s optimization is a nightmare and vetex should do anything he can to fix it

Nah, there’s a great way to fix it and that would be to beam sealeds to the captains’ inventory once they hit/are near the Dark Sea boundary on the way back in. Chests are already being turned into items for mods, so they’d work for sure in this instance.
