Supercharging has to be one of THE worst ideas vetex has ever implemented into the game.
Up there with water poisoning bad.
Why are NPCs just allowed to just decide that their sometimes borderline unavoidable attacks just do a thousand damage (if not more) and have AoE for 20 miles???
Wasn’t there already enough RNG bullshit with overleveled NPCs?
It especially doesn’t help that the game is even more laggy than it was last update and it was already extremely bad in that regard.
That’s not to mention that the only way to reset magic is to find a tiny cloud of dust that only renders if you’re within sneezing distance on a randomly generated island that’s makes Orthys look like sandfall in an area where enemies outlevel you by 5x or more.
I don’t know what’s going on, but good lord something needs to change and fast.
This isn’t even a balance problem at this point.
why was supercharging even added in the first place, who exactly benefits from this change.

I think people very distinctly and vocally already had issues with NPCs having numerous advantages over players, why add another???

At least one small benefit of supercharging is that you have a much easier opportunity to punish them outside of trying to hit them as they dart around or outclash you.
I haven’t really seen any bad parts of it yet tbh because all I’ve fought that had it were Evander and Amelia, so I guess I’ll find out how bad it is soon.

I primarily explore the dark sea and atlanteans are just borderline unwinnable at this point.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but flying phoenix can hit up to three times, right?
The atlantean that killed me used supercharged flying phoenix and hit me twice for 588 damage per hit.
I was already damaged but I would have died at full hp regardless.
Testers on their way to test the game for 1 second, find some small/weird/niche bug, report it, and then quit testing literally every other feature of the entire update until the next update.
What you mentioned are exactly things that proper testing shouldve fixed (unless vetex doesnt listen to his testers ig). But also things like cannon spell on mages, especially high size mages. Mfers can deal 1k dmg with very little aim and terrain cant even block it either.
Like, how did these cannon spells ever get through testing . Balance team gotta work overtime because of the lack of proper testing.
Also another clip from dumb broken npcs. No idea why these arent getting embed but clicking on the medal thingy works.
Anyways, another issue: Evander can be incredibly difficult to find if hes on his ship. Would be nice if the contract showed in what part of the bronze sea he is (southeast, west, northwest etc).
Edit: another point: ik kalliste is way above our level but did none of the testers even fight him? You literally cant fight him without cheesing him (have him fall into the ocean). If you try fighting him without cheesing youll either not be able to hit him at all or straight up die . Sure im not expecting a big boss arena or anything within the assassin base, but it wouldve been nice if kaliste could at least be lured outside where you could fight him normally.
Overall i do think the update was very good (like an 8/10) but shit like this somehow gets through testing every single fucking update and it should definitely be criticized more, like with this topic.
Honestly i think this update overall is good. But these issues keep on getting past testing somehow . From pulsar, to surge, to fury of the sea, to cannon among MANY other things that somehow got past testing. None of these shouldve ever been as OP as they were/are. Testers are genuinely offloading like 95% of their work onto the balance team and then the balance team gets most if not all the hate for it. Sure the bteam isnt always perfect either but they do a way better job than the testers for sure.
Also just the QoL stuff mentioned by theoretical and me. Luckily the bteam already wants the magic reset essence to be buffed in numerous good ways. But thats sadly only one of many issues regarding pve and grinding.
