I just hate amnesiacs most of the time because it all ends up with the protagonist being a blank slate (in addition to have the free right to exposition dump) but when it’s done well I actually really like it

The thing about him being a pushover, it’s absolutely true. It’s to the point that i think it’s actually intended. Just scrambling throughout his entire newly, started life. Ignored the rude action of Morden abandoning him on the beach and like a whole lot of other things that he should’ve probably told his friends about. I think he will eventually be taught by someone to actually be himself
If executed well, amnesia, or a similar lack of memories used to obscure portions of the player’s past, can make the story outright amazing.
However, it’s often just used to make the player relate with their character easily by having neither of them know about the world around them.
in-game silas is just going to be a self insert iirc, we’ll have to wait for the novel for him to get a proper character
