I’ve never understood this. The only benefits of being tall I can really think of are not needing to get stools when reaching high-up objects and being better at basketball. Other than that, it just seems like being taller would be more of a curse in today’s day and age. Being taller means less room in cars, planes, and chairs.

If I’m correct humans used to be way taller, we shrunk a bit due to “effectivity” reasonings so yeah being shorter is generally more effective.

Because tall people are more impressive than short ones—it’s a natural instinct.
You’re going to be more intimated by a grizzly bear than a red bear, but if it were bigger, then the roles would be reversed.
Big things are threatening, small ones aren’t as much, even if their killing potential is greater. Though of course, that isn’t the origin of this societal dogma. Being taller means having access to more muscle mass, a necessary tool in a world without bureaucracy.

also being taller is generally a sign of better nutrition so evolutionarily it’s probably more attractive
being short is better tho 
I rather be able to crawl through very tight spaces and do some silly stuff than be tall
also my favorite blanket I have won’t be able to fit me anymore
us short people also live longer, get less joint pain, have a higher strength to weight ratio, and need less food to survive

Your steps aren’t as long so we’re faster with the same energy consumption as you. I’m much faster than my short friends in the mountains despite working half as hard. Also my backpack to body mass ratio is better
