Why do some players complain about "toxicity" in PVP?

can you label where toxicity is involved? when you’re trying to gank someone you wouldnt want them sailing off or potentially getting away. hunts are a big part in building clan infamy, for the people that have a life outside of arcane and decide to not get 15 infamy per 5 minutes of their tikme

“Why is [Demography2] generalising this thing about [Demography1]?” is pure bait as it generalises the behaviour of [Demography2].
7/10 fishing. The hook is weak and the bait is poisonous, but that doesn’t stop the dumb fish from biting.

ye :b

the demographic is not pve players, its pve players in the context given

Imo its because sometimes were just trying to mind our own business and just grind then some random ass ganker comes out of no where to kill you for no reason other then a pointless label this is coming from me with like 270k bounty from just npcs its not that hard to grind them and at the end of the day its just annoying and rude to kill someone randomly.

“why do PvE players”

vetex is the same person that crashes out at obvious ragebait then deploys it as a reason to cut himself off to any member of the community that doesnt drop money into his wallet

It depends. If you’re in a small clan with little infamy and only a claim on a low-contest island, you wouldn’t expect to be ganked. There’s little incentive for such. However, if you’re in a high infamy clan or claimed a high-contest island (Cassia and Harvest come to mind), you should expect to be ganked. The same goes for bounty - if you have a low amount (5-20k), you would assume that gankers would go for higher targets. If you are said higher target (100k+), expect to be ganked.

Very new thing, but yeah. I see the point of running as discouraging the player from continuing to chase you - waste their time enough for them to give up. Is it petty? I guess. However if you’d get arrested, it’s still a good choice. If your time is gonna be wasted, waste the time of the ganker as well.

This does feel like bait, as many have said. Not AphoticGoblin levels of bait, but poor bait nonetheless.

i didnt say all btw, you dont have to cherrypick details and label it as bait to make an argument made seem groundless

person is going through the game minding their own business
random pvper decides to bash them into the ground with a 300 damage per blast build
“why are you mad?”

Ah yes, I’m cherrypicking that very little detail called the title of your goddamn topic

“if you have this thing you get from basically all activities you should expect to get ganked” is that what you’re saying or are you just bad at wording?

if you’re above like 2k you lose 350 every time iirc, no small loss

i dont want to return to the time of the great aphotic wars of '24 vro…

you don’t have to say all, when you say the plural form of something it already implies you’re speaking about the entire group in general

So… the players who are trying to avoid having their money, rep, treasure charts, and time stolen are in the wrong, whereas the gankers are in the right?

Uh did anyone even read this…

Oh boy, this is going to turn into an argument thread, isn’t it?

OHHHH MODERATORSSSSS (cs)

I’ve edited the topic’s title from

"Why do PvE players whine about "toxicity" from pvpers?"
  to
"Why do some players complain about toxicity in PVP?"
For the sake of keeping this conversation peaceful.
Best practices to follow:
  • Avoid generalising a demography’s behaviour
In this case, PvE players were said to whine
  • Avoid employing words with negative connotations
In this case, whining could be interpreted as something that only a child would do
  • Refrain from stigmatising your audience
In this case, putting ‘toxicity’ in quotation marks implies that it isn’t toxicity

Adding onto your point, Renown (which is like a magnet for many PvPers who want it) is just obtained far too easily. Basically anything and everything gives it up to 100K, and past that, you can still hunt NPCs to get it, even though a casual player will probably be hunting them for the treasure charts they can get from it.
