Why do we love arcane odyssey?

Genuinely. Why? All people I know say “Arcane is the worst game in the existance”, and, I can kinda see why.

Bugs? Annoying. All of us encountered each of known bug at the very least once. Once I flew away into dark sea i5 cuz a ship appeared on top of mine cuz of this “ships aren’t visible for you yet they still exist” bug.

Lore? Now be honest with me, I won’t tell big V, I promise. Do you even read the dialogues in this game, or stuff like book of Athena? I can’t blame you if you say “no”. I have yet to understand the whole lore myself, even tho I love lore.

Storyline? Obviously I’m not the ultimate master of writing, but I was making fanfics since I was 8 and I didn’t even knew there was a word for it, so I think I can say that the storyline as well the character development is uh… not the worst, but not the best either.

Lag? Yeah. The star of the show that should’ve been fixed, but apparently won’t be. (My personal problem with lag are mainly ping spikes once in 20 minutes up to 3k-5k cuz of internet, plus lack of servers in my country. If anyone’s curious - my highest ping spike was 128k, so now this is a cursed number for me).

I can’t answer this question myself, so tell me, the arcane players: why do you love arcane odyssey? It seems to me that no matter how often we say “I hate this game, I wish it never exist”, we keep coming back to it again and again.

Are there not other things that are good in the game? There would be far less if there wasn’t anything good in it. We always focus on the bad parts, don’t we?

TL;DR of lore is that it is as fluid as water

I lost track of it after a lot of things were reworked/retconned

Stockholm Syndrome

because its special

people hate out of love, they get frustrated when potential game doesnt meet their expectations

most people who hate on the game do genuinely care about it

magic pirate game tickles my brain

ao?? what is that?? is that a game??? sounds stupid

it’s pretty interesting but not that interesting
this is probably the reason why there’s a shit ton of idiots who make posts like ‘‘will nero destroy ravenna’’ or just have no idea of what they’re talking about

because i’ve been a fan of the series ever since 2020, i love magic and it’s a few of the good roblox games out there

ao is more text than showing

vetex would place a book that says “morden opened this door and killed julien” rather than showing a cutscene

cutscene would probably be hella janky and uninteresting anyway

iris raising up her arm to fart all over the place killing generic npcs

how her surge instakilled those guards in the copper prison :sob:

There is clearly a lot of effort put into the game. I like magic games where you can customize your armor/outfit. It just has things that I like overal.

No one hates Arcane Odyssey more than the Arcane Odyssey community.

  1. because i’ve been of fan of vetex for over a decade
  2. ao is one of the most unique and well-developed games on roblox. it is the most technically impressive one i can even think of. nothing else comes close to what ao has done. the majority of “rpg” games on roblox are just shallow and unimpressive, ao is the real thing.

if it wasn’t confined to roblox, it would be a breakout hit.

It’s more like “I wish it was better”, it does some stuff good but it gets overshadowed by bad stuff which greatly hinders its potential

To answer the question in the title, I enjoyed Arcane Odyssey because of the gameplay.

  • Exploring the islands
  • seeing all the different builds people would do, and coming up with some of my own
  • the gear progression and working my way towards equipment I wanted
  • mixing and matching different items for vanity
  • fighting the bosses
  • getting good at leveling new characters and getting them to Sameria
  • Trading with other players to get items that I needed or wanted

Who’s we? Matter of fact, who’s I? Who has ever said this?

The only reason someone would think that Arcane Odyssey is the worst game in existence is if they’ve played so few games that Arcane Odyssey ended up at the bottom by default, rather than by its own merit.

Don’t buy into people’s dramatic, hysterical exaggeration of the state of the game. And especially don’t make dramatic, hysterical exaggerations of some disgruntled people’s dramatic, hysterical exaggerations!

I don’t know what’s worse - the fact that you felt the need to be insulting by suggesting people would lie, or the fact you think speaking ill about the game at any opportunity isn’t in vogue.

If you’re talking about the optimizations that have been worked on recently, they’re still getting in. But you’re talking about ping spikes, so that sounds to me like more of a network thing, I don’t know how improved if at all that is going to be.

I dunk and jab at AO (the lore is actually garbage it’s been retconned and stitched so often it’s a broken mess) but to hate AO I can not. I’ve played aa, I’ve played WoM, I play AO. Theres things I wish were better but it’s still arcane Odyssey none the less the sequel of arcane adventures and for that I can not hate it (unless vetex gets really dumb about it but I doubt he would as that would be self sabotage)

i hate ao but its fun and i love it and this causes me to rage everytime i press the play button
10/10 game

in order to love a game you must hate on it or something idk
also there no other game on roblox like tis and its peak

in my opinion, it comes down to the fact that this game generally gives me what i want out of an rpg – the game for the entire progression gives you a clear direction as to what you can do to progress, you can do the story; you can explore, you can generally do whatever you want, and there’s a lot of stuff to do in the world especially with full release, which can make it feel pretty… full, especially for a roblox rpg.

this game also doesn’t have an emphasis on pure mob and stat grinding like a bunch of other rpgs, and the goal isn’t always to kill the next strongest thing. the graphics remind me of a lot of the games i used to grow up with on this platform, so there’s a little nostalgia kick for me as well, even though i haven’t played arcane adventures. the combat has also grown on me, i like the sort of ‘magical dodgeball’ as i’ve heard it described. the grind in this game is also just enough for me, i’m willing to do it, but it’s not mind numbingly boring and it feels rewarding

i really wish that some aspects would be improved, though. the lore feels weird, the creator’s dialogue writing has improved from his previous games but a lot of characters still feel samey with their prose. tell me athena speaks like a goddess in the book of athena with a straight face (i guess characters like cazal are a departure from that, but it doesn’t help that his mannerisms were ripped directly from a character in A Song of Ice and Fire). a lot of the story falls into generic tropes and a lot of characters seemingly share the same views and same knowledge and same understanding of the world (everyone talking about dragons uses literally the exact same phrasing to describe the way they speak, for instance, and everyone has the same understanding of magic energy, these things come off like buzzwords).

plus, the lore and game are at odds with each other, since the lore is for a book while the game must adhere to the lore (except for when it doesn’t, but it’s okay when it doesn’t but it must when it does. understand?). mechanics like water poisoning exist solely for the lore, and are managable with the base dark sea, but become problematic in things like long extended dragon fights where there is no shelter and you just have to remember that soap exists. i really wish that vetex would just. write for the game, and make sure that all of the things he comes up with are actually fun and enjoyable in the context of a video game

so yeah. the game is mostly good, i am normally quite stingy with the praise i give and i could get out two paragraphs, but it has a few achilles heels that end up just degrading the experience which is frustrating, because it could be block tales level glazed otherwise

The only game of its kind on roblox
