Why does the Weapon Weight system exist?

For those who don’t know, with the Weapon crafting update they added a system called “Weight.” What this does is when taking a weapon skill not native to a weapon type and putting it on that weapon, it alters the stats significantly based on the weapon type.

For example, putting Flying Pheonix on a Dagger extremely fast but also tiny, while putting Tempest on General Argos’ Halberd will make it exceptionally slow but also massive.

Right here is a size comparison between a Dagger and a Greatsword with the exact same tier and Size affinities (I don’t have a Warlord slot)

My question is, why does this exist? We already had weapon stat affinities for altering weapon behaviors, couldn’t Vetex have just altered the affinities of these weapons instead of adding a whole invisible system that silently changes the behaviors of all non-native skills?

what?

Doesn’t that kinda ruin the entire point of the system?

Chat is this real?

because it would make sense??

I’m under the impression it would’ve made more sense if daggers for example just had smaller, faster stat affinities rather than having an invisible system that essentially replicates the same effect.

btw guys this is mostly a rant post about how the Argos halberd is kind of unusable because the Collosal weapon Weight stacks with its terrible speed affinity and so Tempest takes over 3 seconds to come out

I understand it now. Yeah you’re right actually, I guess vetex just got lazy and didn’t want to adjust all the affinites after adding weapon disarming

If weapons have an in-built system to show what size speed and damage it would have, why include a second secret one?

yeah honestly the stats that show on weapons means jack shit to me

The only explanation I have is that weight won’t be affected by enchantments or imbuements. Why that would be useful I’m not sure

a secret, sinister, third option…

How could I forget aura

I see no difference

yeah that’s mb, I framed it really tight based on the size of the projectile rather than having a consistent frame between the screenshots

I also may have timed the greatsword screenshot kinda bad so Flying Pheonix didn’t have enough time to expand

edited the original post with better screenshots

Do you really want a gretsword and dagger to have same sized phoenix and slashes?
That’s why weights exist

But since it’s a hidden system we can’t know the exact difference in size and speed, which is a pain for minmaxxers. Instead of having a hidden system they could just adjust every weapons’ affinities so as to account for their weight too.

The problem isn’t that it exists, it’s that it’s a secret.
