i mean you could keep the pro of immersion and remove the cons by just like capping jailtime to like, 2 minutes, right?
brought your post to life though didnt i?
genuinely though i dont really care about the jail time, its been around since arcane adventures so ive been putting up with it far longer than a lot of people here so perhaps my apathy towards it is biased
but id like it to stay because i find it very funny that i can banish people for 15 minutes and theres nothing they can do about it
honestly i kind of agree, also played since then ![]()
i think that MAYBE the jailtime cap should be reduced or it just instantly skips to the execution though
banish them all
Get attacked by a boar while fighting delemere and instead of getting the normal stun i can prob dash out of the moment it ends i am now stuck floating in the air waiting to die, and then i need to wait 7 minutes to get executed
This is subjective depending on the person however some of the fun in games is having real risk. Having something thrilling knowing that you NEED to succeed.
Because Ultrakill is a game designed to where you’re meant to die loads, it wouldn’t make sense where you can just instantly have no consequences in something like an rpg where you’re powerful and get more time to focus and eventually dominate npcs whereas in ultrakill you are bound to struggle loads.
By that logic being able to fly at level 1 in AO and instantly beat Wotan, Warren, Calvus and go back in time to defeat Nero and Durza or Ach#ron would be completely fine
Also this is just odd because this type of excuse can lead to lazy writing and besides things like magic in AO is just one aspect that shouldn’t affect everything else.
An example is basically Death Note: The whole point is that it is a normal world however with just one main twist: there’s a notebook that kills people, that’s unrealistic, so anything else completely unrealistic in the story would be fine

Nuclear take, getting your bounty taken by a criminal player should result in a file wipe.
if i were to make a topic like this i’d probably get banned because i’ve been holding the enormous amount of frustrations i have due to dumb and badly designed immersion features this game has (and that it doesn’t need) to myself since if i did make a topic complaining about them i’d look immature and rude
you guys have no idea how frustrating it is to reset while out of combat as the icon didn’t show up on the orb thing and STILL get arrested for 10 fucking minutes because this game is a buggy mess and for some reason it still counts as an arrest because a lvl 10 marine attacked you 5 minutes ago
or when I get hunted while FREEZING because of the terrible optimization of full release and gotta wait yet another 10 minutes!!
a bandaid fix for this feature would be nice as it wouldn’t completely remove it from the game but would make it less punishing.. of course it would still be annoying but knowing our developer he won’t remove it from the game no matter what so at least make the jail timer be TWO MINUTES instead of 5x that and make executions only be a thing when you have liek 500,000 bounty
or…
0/10 ragebait you suck at trying to get me riled up
imagine being being a responsible player with other real-world obligations, not playing for over 2 hours a day, only to lose an entire ~8th of your play session (probably more like a 6th due to technicalities like the execution time) to jail time every time you die
whu… why are you here then?
this is a forum for people that like to play games, and consider it a valuable use of time!
Imo, vetex should implement something akin to the wild west prison thing:
When arrested at a high bounty, you get sent to a special camp where you can mine coal to reduce your sentance. Not perfect, but at least you can do SOMETHING
(also I’ve never had a more than 3 mins+ jailtime)
I like to speak out issues more in the game too, but as you said, despite us voicing out what’s best for the player experience, some or worse lots of people will bash on us thinking were “rude and immature” or something.
exactly what i thought was going to happen to me after making this
ok boo boo
Idea: what if an NPC doll-lookalike was used in the player’s place for executions? So it’s basically the Gravy just saying “grrr, this is what we’ll do to you when we catch you”.
And, thus, by attacking the executioners, you’re indicating that the subject of the mock execution has support, and thus is even more dangerous, along with giving the interrupter bounty for stopping a Gravy display, even if it was symbolic.
Basically, what if we got player executions that could be interrupted—without involving the actual player and making them wait?
Oh but uh, the one thing is that the player gains nothing from interrupting their own mock execution. Because that would be kinda stupid.
Maybe I should make this a proper suggestion, come to think of it…
Yeah I agree, I wanna play a game to play it, Not to sit in a cell for 10 minutes. I don’t mind executions that’s cool and I think it’s fun, but sometimes you gotta learn to lower realism for game design.
hey this ain’t half bad
i always thought the only reason the system’s in place is so that we can make jailbreaks and execution interruptions a game mechanic, which are parts of the game which i do think can be pretty fun
I think that maybe instead of making the player involved in the process itself get put in a unique position where they’re unable to change their reputation but can still run around, talk to npcs, and buy from shops and stores under a disguise and when they’re being jailbroken they can choose to retake control of the body double and participate in the escape and if that’s the case, they’ll be able to gain some additional notoriety
Being able to fight NPCs and Players in the state might be a bit iffy but I’m sure it’s not a big deal if rewards from doing so in that state might be turned off
