Wilderness in the island is where illusions occur, the towns are safe spots (towns would have a white glow if they are safe spots, other towns in the area are illusion).
It would be annoyingly cool if dark wizards there when they used magic, it would appear as something different but had the same stats as the original magic.
Example: wizard fires what appears to be snow, but its slower than normal because its actually metal magic.
Wind that causes corrosion because its actually acid magic
Plasma that causes soaked because its actually water
And so on.
I mean you should still be able to sense your location with magic sensing. Kind of like fully blind Dzin (except instead of blindness, it’s a bunch of illusions).
And the compass should spin around rapidly in no actual direction
For humor, there’s a chance when you equip a weapon, it looks like a weapon, but its actually a carrot.
Torches can look like great axes
