AI ""art"" discussion

the problem is that people don’t want ai to make art while they work in a factory, they want to make art while ai works in a factory

people want to create, and taking that away from them in favor of something that looks worse 99% of the time already isn’t a good idea when we ignore the moral implications of it

This is so stupid it feels like bait, or sarcasm.

Actually, ai is just going to take both

Alright, let’s take this to its logical conclusion by applying it to something similar, then.

If I took a piece—no more than a quarter bite—from a thousand cakes, and mashed them all together into one, is it right for me to say that I have baked a cake? And that said cake isn’t stolen?

It’s still theft from people who aren’t okay with having their works taken.

By that same logic, nothing anyone does is ever unique, we’ve all be influenced and inspired by everything we’ve ever seen.

the apology thread wasn’t serious, im sorry lil bro. i don’t talk to you because i don’t think it’s worth my time in 99% of cases. also i think ai art is soulless but i hate the anti ai crowd even more

well i dont think ai has hands to screw bolts in with
get back to work lazy bums :tophat:

Soooo predictable

ad hominem

watch any ‘how it’s made’ video on YouTube and you’ll see some kind of robot or machine in the first 30 seconds

mechanical machines are not ai
do you guys even know what ai is???

That’s how they talked about the synthesizer and currently a real orchestra costs much, much more
It depends (a lot) on how you manage your own vocation

My take on ai:

If you are going to use it, you must be:

  1. Honest

  2. Either have your thing be free or dirt cheep due to your lack of work vs other ppl spending who knows how long putting something together with the costs of labour, you ain’t gonna make much of anything unless you put in some real work

  3. Whatever place the ai is getting it’s “Inspiration from” should be given alongside whatever the result is so those the ai has stolen from, maybe even a nice bonus if like 90%+ of any profits get given to those the ai has stolen from to make sure that you are virtually unable to make a real big profit

  4. Only used as actual assistance if you get stuck on smth and you are unable to find any videos or smth to help so you could get the ai to fix that small problem, then you look through the result to see what you did wrong so will not need to make ai do it in the future, and you may then also be able to optimize or fix whatever it is yourself later

Currently almost none of these are the case

for point 1 and 4 some ppl are able to do, but points 2 and 3 are completely missing which should be added for ai regulations

Idek what i’m thinking rn, I’m a bit tired of this whole thing and ppl using ai not being honest or making work that isn’t their own, I’ve seen a channel doing “Commissions” for music when i know what ai they are using, the ai that also happens to be free, they are completely ripping off a whole bunch of ppl that don’t even realize

You are correct in the result is not unique. However, the process is still genuine and of the user’s own efforts. Again, the difference between baking a cake yourself, and taking bits from other people’s.

Even if your cake isn’t absolutely unique, it was still made by you. Yes, you used a recipe, and yes, you used ingredients that you didn’t make. But you actually made the dang thing.

If this isn’t enough to convince you, then I’m just going to have to conclude that you don’t grasp the concept of intellectual property, and leave it at that.

I can use the same analogy as before, does that mean I should learn graph theory to find the path to my house because it should be genuine and from my own efforts instead of asking google maps?

I am not a man. You are insufferable because you act like this for no reason.

@Amuka said it best, still, consider the environmental impact of AI, beo, you speak and have the exact same opinions as rb1, I officially am disappointed in you.

you are talking like using ai was ilegal… this reminds to my 10 years old who thought the police will interrupt my house because i was pirating minecraft :sob::sob::sob:

ok to rephrase what I said, people don’t want ai in industries that require creativity. Ai in some cases is fine but not most of the time, and having a ai do what you want to do while you go to work is stupid compared to just having robots do the work for you and getting to do what you want
