This is an idea derived @Mr_Mxyzptlk and his concept of “spirit vision” for one of my ocs
Since invis doesnt quite work on Atlanteans anymore (i think?) the way they can track you is through sensing your spirit energy.
More commonly by sight, but it could vary due to the mutation the Atlantean has undergone. Instead of seeing a person, they see a large mass of bright spirit energy in the shape of one, and are attracted to the untainted being.
Everyone has spirit energy within them without having to be a vitality build, as it functions as a “soul” for each person.

oh, i thought it was the lack of dark sea smell making it very clear that youre not from the dark sea (and thus, free food because every human’s first course of action when they discover something, atlantean or not, is to try and consume it)
