Maybe like being held hostage by the Syndicate?
Then you can gain fame almost equally as fast as bounty by rescuing those held hostage by the Assassin’s Syndicate
Although I also hate the feeling of needing to be over-reliant on the player marker when sailing at night. It really takes away the immersion, but I know that I wouldn’t be able to travel at night without going a completely wrong direction.
Hot take: i wasnt fucking immersed by the sailing in the first place
nerfing the sky wizard quest exp is crazy to me. i already explored and had fun leveling on my first two files, now i want to level quickly from npcs for my other files so I can make more builds instead of carrying cargo halfway across the map for levels
arcane odyssey demographic is a three-way venn diagram with almost no overlap
circle 1: those here for the land combat
circle 2: those here for the sea combat
circle 3: those here for the exploration
i probably got the specifics wrong but my hot take is that the game is always gonna have the pain point of a fractured target demographic
yeah im definitely not for sea combat, when i see ships attack me I just try to get them on land. I do like the exploration too but haven’t had time to do that yet.
This was actually a thing, there was the equivalent of being arrested and imprisoned for good reps. It was removed a short while later though, I guess vet wanted there to be a bit more diversity between the two paths
Bandits should be vaulted. Too many people killing them for EXP.
game doesn’t have much replayability once you finish the story, alternative pvp gamemodes or even non combat contests like pvp cooking or fishing could really make the game livelier
ship racing too
another issue with this is, while positive rep jails eventually release bad guys, it doesn’t really make sense for the other side to do so.
Killing normal enemies not part of a quest gives barely any exp now unlike wom, so its just a waste of time to kill them.
Marines would negotiate a release.
makes sense
I do think the official drop rates are bullshit tbh.
They are 100% inaccurate. Iris’s bracelet is like 1/7 and I swear, me and my friend killed her over 50 times trying to get it back when we were low levels and we couldn’t get it to drop. Sure, it’s probably just bad luck. But with a chance of 1/7, it shouldn’t take 50+ tries.
the game has little replayability because it’s like 20% done??
well this ain’t hot takes for nothing
I think conjurer is good
My warrior file got it on first attempt, and then I got caught in the mirage battle, beat her again, and got it TWICE IN A ROW
Despite the inherent wish for all builds to be accessible and at least somewhat viable to all players, the entirety of this game’s PvE was designed around Magic alone, and it becomes hugely apparently when playing certain builds.
Have you ever tried to kill a navy Major or defeat Calvus during the story on your own on a Berserker build? It’s a nightmare. The enemies in this game are fundamentally designed to be defeated by Magic. Fighting Styles, and to a degree Weapons, were later considerations.
ESPECIALLY when they start blocking, meaning Strength builds literally cannot M1 without being forced into these weird 1-2s of hitstun upon getting blocked (which they always will in response to M1s). It just makes it so that your basic attacks are something you never use in PvE, despite being your highest raw damage option.
Meanwhile, Mages can kill Calvus in four pulsars and be done with it. I wish all builds were at least vaguely close to similar in PvE effectiveness.
i’m not actually sure if this take is particularly hot but i have heard a LOT of people say ice magic is bad. i disagree. that shit is goated.
i do not give a FUCK if it’s too slow or it loses too many clashes or it doesnt do enough damage
this motherfucker has a 30% bleed bonus you can not tell me that’s not insane. i ran into a conjurer npc with ice magic and they almost fucking killed me. that shit is wild
