I don’t think this is an intrinsic aspect of magic energy, I’m pretty sure this effect is because nobody intends to hurt themselves with their own magic. The system is intent-based now, and this is just another example of that.
yeah that was gamehero
this is publicly editable remember
depends on if his sphere of magic is more concentrated than the ambient sea water or not, and if he’s intending for it to be anchored in place or not
if his magic is less concentrated, then the ocean’s energy would probably dissolve or tear it apart, but if it’s more concentrated, then it would stay in one piece
if he’s intending for the sphere to stick in place, then it likely will, but if he’s not, then it would probably float up or just be carried by the current
ok I get the feeling this is one of those questions that’s up to user interpretation until a patron asks vetex
What
That doesn’t happen when I use an explosion underwater
(what were you two even disussing)
whether or not the ocean repels magic in general or curses specifically
mb all x10
that means your explosion’s magic energy is more concentrated than the ocean’s, i’d reckon about any mage other than completely new ones can make a spell concentrated enough
wouldn’t that also mean a curse attack could be used underwater cuz it’s like “the purest most concentrated form of magic energy” or something
an attack can be used underwater, but if the user themselves goes under then the curse is forced out of their body, which kills them
why does the ocean hurt curse users anyway
if it’s because of the “arcane salt” then why didn’t hecate just make it so they could survive being submerged in a primarily water based world filled to the brim with the salt?
because

(well prometheus and hecate were alive at some point)
(that’s like… why curses even exist)
it kills them because it forcibly separates the curse from their body
why tho
weird isn’t it
yeah but the salt wasn’t irradiated back then
doofus

the magic energy in the water
then why doesn’t the magic energy hurt a normal magic user?
same logic right? “clashing energies from different sources”
cause their flesh and stuff shields them, they aren’t entirely magic like curse users, though notably they can still be affected in very extreme places like atlanteans in the dark sea
