Vetex watching as the entire fandom celebrates after he eliminates powerscaling being entirely based off luck (why wasn’t it always like this)
finally people can stop crying about magic equality or something!!!
Can’t wait to enter the Farther Reaches to obtain crystal meth just to get Flare, then do it all over again for Poison Lightning.
So how do you mutate in lore if not with a Hecate Shard? The doc says you get a mutation that someone else from your bloodline created, but you aren’t born with it unless you’re lucky…
Is it a slow training process to mutate? Or a sudden burst of power like in old AA lore? Is it tied to emotion and character or purely talent and genetics?
Something like studying the magic and trying to replicate it from what I can remember, I assume it goes a lot smoother if your parent is a mage who’s mutated and can help you.
Isn’t that how you learn new base magics? I doubt that was said for mutation, because it wouldn’t really make sense.
Studying a base magic is sensible because you can learn any one. But with mutation, you’re limited to what’s in your bloodline. And for many families, the last lost magic user was far too many generations ago to remember, so how would you know which mutation you need to study?
Nawh. Hecate Essence is the magic changer; Hecate Shard is the magic creator/mutator.
Also, you’d know what mutation to study when you got it.
No, that’s how you mutate base magics. Where are you getting this from
I’ve been wondering about that too and I thought it would be cool if using a Hecate shard to create a new magic added also added it to the “pool” of magics humanity has access to. That way anybody could technically mutate into that magic after it’s been created, removing the strict need for bloodline relation or using a shard. Of course having a blood relation to the original creator of the magic would still make it much easier to do so
As for how that’d work, Prometheus was able to give humanity access to a magic pool of the seven base magics in the first place, so it’s kind of a thing already. Even though Hecate had her dominion over magic stolen, she obviously still holds a decent amount of control considering the shards of her body and her essence still allow somebody to create a new magic and unlock the ability to use it respectively. So I’d say that’s not outside the realm of possibility for her shards to be able to do that
I don’t think it was necessarily stolen, just copy & pasted for Prometheus to use.
Hyperspace said you have to study the specific magic you’re trying to mutate to, and try to replicate it. The studying happens before you get the magic. So how will you know which magic to study if the only mutation you can get belonged to some centuries-old dead ancestor who wasn’t recorded in history. Even more troubling, what if you have NO mutations in your bloodline? Can you not mutate at all unless you make your own with a Hecate Shard?
Is it so wrong to ask forumers to make appropriate topic titles instead of making cryptic ones that won’t help anyone looking for them?
That is to say that I’ve changed the topic’s title.
yeah good luck going through the in lore dark sea let alone the far reaches
The light of a match is sun when compared to complete darkness.
Even a little hope is much better then no hope at all.
it might just be a blood element, meaning you could be the mutation itself
You just gotta believe!
Mutation and Magic Obtainment in lore correlates directly to character development, along with some expertise.
That was your first mistake-
I wish
Really, that’s just pattern observation.
Warren basically explains this in different terms.
