also add stardew valley fishing style
cool idea but having a bunch of minigames for a small feature such as fishing sounds like an annoying undertaking when we could be doing much better things with that time. This could also lead to some weird feature creep stuff which we donât want.
A much more time effective solution would be to just make it so that fishing requires at minimum 1 click and at maximum like 5 clicks or something depending on the fish.
It is relaxing, if youâre doing it to pass the time while chatting with people or to work towards Master Angler which is more incremental, instead of doing it for gear that is slightly better than more easily obtained equipment.
As for these ideas, the only one of any substance is the shadows in the deep one, and I question how it would fit with diving points occupying the niche of âexplore ocean, find submerged thingsâ, at least for the shipwreck portion of the idea.
The others are just a galleon fountain, a fish-specific luck potion, and some minigames lifted from other games, with no detail. Is there still a waiting period between fish? And even if I prefer the simpler fishing minigame, itâd be foolish to not do the harder minigame for better rewards. Why do these have a higher chance to give rare results, if the goal is just to have a more engaging fishing minigame?
And thereâs what I think the root of this âsuggestionâ is - itâs not about the fishing, it is about you not getting the items you want. I wager when the RNG (and just call it RNG, I donât know who this Sol guy is but he didnât invent RNG) still doesnât go your way, youâll be back here, asking for more handouts - I mean fishing reworks.
This suggestion is just a grab bag of half-baked ideas, and is obviously more about the rewards and not the gameplay.
Well, I think I actually agree with this one lol. Even if this reply makes the suggestor sounds like a douchebag who couldnât be bothered to put in actual work like others lol.
But I couldnât be bothered about somebody wanting more loot that they want anyway. Just about having more gameplay options and slightly more engaging gameplay than usual would already sell me good.
Well, trawl nets are just an upgrade that only rewards sailing and doesnât change the gameplay in an actual meaningful way, so this one definitely shouldnât get in at all lol.
yahoo
I really love that one of the options is to just AA Clash the fish.
I also love that the original method is still an option.
(and then rates 2 star reasonability)
Werenât you the one who kept complaining that I was using it wrong when I did it based on my own opinion?
yeah I just like complaining
Itâs cool and solves the general problem of fishing being boring ash.
but tbh fishing in general will still be as grindy to the point of the same result, in the end it just leads to the same things.
How am I gonna be fighting a boot?
very heavy boot
Its almost like the vast majority of players who fish couldnât possibly give less of a shit about the angler titles.
Being required to stand there and do essentially nothing for hours upon hours to finally get a super specific piece of equipment sucks.
because what on earth would be the point in challenging yourself if you get literally nothing out of it.
Solâs RNG is a âgameâ in which you click and roll for auras.
You just click, and click, and click, and click until you get the thing you want, then you click some more for the next thing you want. Thatâs the game.
Thatâs also AO fishing.
This is about both.
Fishing in AO is shit âgameplayâ for shit rewards.
All in all you just kinda come off as an asshole who likes fishing the way it is but canât stand the idea of there being better alternatives with actual gameplay behind them because then youâd feel like you have to⌠actually play the game.
This solves nothing.
If I wanted a half-baked solution for fishing then Iâd just say to remove the anti-macro rule.
As it stands, fishing barely even qualifies as a feature.
You just stand there and click.
Are you talking about player time or development time?
Player time: Just do literally anything else if you donât want to fish lol.
Developer time: This would certainly impact and benefit more players than clan building will.
Literally everyone including people in clans vs People in clans.
Yea thatâs what net fishing does.
Yea thatâs what bait does.
Do you know any minigames that havenât been used already in other games?
I see no reason to fix things that arenât broken.
Whatâs so shocking about net fishing and chum when theyâre common practices?
Entire games have been built around unique fishing minigames and Iâve enjoyed those games.
Fishing in AO has absolutely no substance.
You cannot convince me it cannot be done well when Iâve seen it done well on repeat.
Honestly Iâm shocked that the idea of being an angler hasnât been expanded upon in the game where you spend a lot of time on the sea around fishing villages.
(the fish could at least move instead of being immobile)
fishing if it was good
I âenjoyâ fishing currently, but I agree it could certainly use some changes.
i kinda found it funny today i talked with some friends about some fishing ideas and reading through this there are a lot of stuff similiar to mine just to tell how much fishing is a bad mecanic rn
Funny thing, Iâve pulled up a few sunkens in my time. Sunken Iron Boots, Two Sunkens Staffs (one was traded for a sunken warrior piece), and a Sunken Sword which I got by just sitting back with somebody who got a bug to make Dark Sea lightning spawn around them.
