This solves the problem of making fish less obnoxious while not adding 20 million layers of bs on top of it like your suggestion intends to do.

And macroing is a 3rd party feature so of course there’s going to be rules against it. It’s better to promote using the game’s systems instead.

Feature creep means something has too many features, please tell my why we would need like 5 different fishing methods + some other shit?

Others said that fishing isn’t supposed to be a large feature so why don’t we just keep it as a small feature instead? It’s just simple on purpose and that’s all it can be, not everything has to be wrapped under 12 layers of complexity.

(you’re dead wrong about it barely being a feature anyways)

I mean developer time, why spend this time reworking something this low priority when we could spend that time fixing the PvP situation.

And you’re overestimating what a fishing rework is going to do. There’s no way you actually think that having 4 more ways of fishing would benefit people more than literally being able to build on islands.

Please stop presenting your biased opinion as fact, a fishing rework is literally nothing in comparison to what we’ve seen from clan building. And as I said before, fishing isn’t a big enough feature to justify being feature creeped like you want it to be.

feature that literally every player will use >>>> clan building that only people in the deep endgame with functioning clans will be able to make any noteworthy use of.

do tell exactly what fishing does as a feature right now.
its just an RNG wall with no substance whatsoever. it is barely a feature.

I didn’t even suggest anything complicated lol.

To offer variety to a mechanic that has literally nothing going for it.
Tell me why clans need building and autofarming.
Tell me why literally any of the immersion features exist.

what systems?
with fishing you have LMB, that’s the short and the long of it.

are you reading the suggestion, its not layers of bullshit RNG, its layers of tools you can use to get around the bullshit RNG through gameplay.

you can go right ahead and suffer through Sol’s Fishing if you want to if this gets implemented or not, you don’t have to be a contrarian.

Anyways, be honest with yourself, would your half baked 1-5 click rule seriously make you want to interact with fishing?

I know it wouldn’t for me since it’s the exact same thing we already have with about 0.01% of the tedium shaved off.

This suggestion aims to make it an actual feature that people want to interact with rather than a mind numbing clicking simulator.
4 features on a mechanic that will persist throughout the entire game and be a part of progression for most players is hardly what I’d call “feature creep”.

The great 2024 fishing argument… …has hereby begun!

yipee

Clan building is also in fact a feature everybody would use.

Also the only thing you need to engage in clan building is money (which you can get a lot of) and you also don’t need intimate knowledge to use a build tool.

We don’t need a fishing rework, we only need to make it so that it doesn’t give you carpal tunnel syndrome and that’s about it.

It serves as a way to get fish and it doesn’t need to be any deeper than that. You could say the same thing about any other thing in this game that requires luck and claim it’s an RNG wall.

Except fishing doesn’t need it and to do so is wasting dev time.

Because building is a much larger feature compared to fishing and the auto farms are there as a way to make passive, the immersion features are just there for details I guess

You should be asking Vetex not me

When I say systems I mean in the general sense that most devs want the players to actually play the game instead of having a third party source to do so.

I’m not saying it’s RNG (I never even mentioned that your suggestion was RNG in the first place)

You call them tools so I’m saying that I’m calling the tools bs. You don’t need 5 different mechanics for literally fishing, as I said it’s feature creep. I saw games like Yansim do this and we all know what’s happening with that mess.

Disagreement == Contrarian

Probably not, but fishing is intended to be simple and so I keep it’s simplicity except without having to spam click. There’s a high chance that’s most people’s biggest problem with it so it’ll help those people. I’m sure most PvE players would appreciate having their fingers intact.

Only having to click 1-5 times (might reduce this number ngl) takes away a very large number of tedium than what you’re describing. I know it’s hyperbole but still

Except that it’s intended as a small clicking simulator. And adding all of that for a small feature is quite literally feature creeping it. Imagine the fishing tutorial quest at redwake having to explain 5 different fishing methods that would easily overwhelm new players.

If we applied your logic of game design to Arcane Odyssey’s development then we would have a game too overly complicated and intimidating to any newcomer that wants to try the game.

It’s better for small features to be streamlined

Holy yap

It is literally in the name:
Clan
You can’t use it without being in a clan, most players are not in a clan, and I quite simply do not see that shifting very much.

Any examples or are you just going to continue to be vague?

You’re the one arguing against it, not him.
I’m asking you.

Then the systems should be fun and interactive.
Not bland and mind numbing.

You wouldn’t even need to use all 4.
They’re tools for the player to use, they can use all of them, they can use none of them, or anything inbetween. I never suggested to force players to use every feature, if anything, I thought I was very clear about letting people maintain fishing exactly how it is ingame right now if they so please.

1: I already said fuck that
2: No, people’s biggest problem with it is that its a horrid waste of time and that it is agonizingly boring.
3: Most people that I know that interact with AO’s fishing including myself just use an autoclicker to skip the clicking anyways so, like I said, it would do literally nothing.

why would it do that.
tutorial fishing quest at redwake would be 1:1 identical to how it is right now except maybe you’d use the 5 fish you catch to make chum or something.

I kinda think you’re using clans as the wrong comparison here cuz uhhh, the only reason why a lot of people aren’t engaging in clans right now is because it only encourages pvp.

The update however makes clans both pvp and pve friendly with the farms, wall defenses, and stuff, making it easy to predict that a lot more people would enter clans now considering there’s less chances of losing infamy and more so earning stuff passively for pve.

Fishing however still stays the same, the only thing changing is the mechanic in this one. So yeah, using clans as a comparison is bit wrong here…

There’s not really any PvE exactly.
Passive stuff, sure, but not PvE. Nothings coming to attack except criminal NPCs that were already there.

Clans are going to continue to encourage PvP with a building update or not.
If two people have preset base designs on the same island in the same server, what do you think is going to happen?

Except they can just spend 5k and start building on some island

An example being Dark Sea chest farming can be interpreted as RNG because you’re not always going to get what you want from the chest

I don’t think I needed an example to say that any activity surrounding RNG and rewards can be seen that way.

I gave you some examples already, go read those.

Bland and mind numbing = opinion

Some features are just meant to be simple in nature

I know this already, a small feature still doesn’t need 5 methods of fish obtainment.

  1. I don’t see how this is relevant

  2. It’s only a waste of time to the people who view it as a way to get sunkens, it’s primary purpose is to get fish to cook with and the sunkens just a thing in the side, you’ll already be able to farm sunkens from the new abyssals anyways. If it’s agonizingly boring then that’s just how it is as its nature of being simple.

  3. You and others using autoclickers doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t do anything. It still affects the people who fish legitimately by making it less tedious for them. I’m viewing this in a way where I’m assuming the player is playing the game without outside knowledge (no wiki’s or macro’s or anything)

So it can accurately explain how that part of the game works? Most of the players will learn things better if it’s explained at the very start of the game at the tutorial area.

All of this is feature creep no matter how you slice it.

PvE clans exist

Except dark sea farming is fun and interactive, fishing is not.
Bad example, got any more?

Do you think standing in place and clicking forever is fun and interactive?
No? Didn’t think so.

The entire bronze sea is the tutorial lol.
You go through the entirety of the first sea being slowly introduced to game features through quests.

What do they even do?

Absolutely nothing.
They will continue to do basically nothing as they get stomped by PvP guilds that want to monopolize islands in a server and raise infamy through capturing.

It is the singular obvious outcome.

All we need is to have the infamy gain from stealing removed, then the update is fixed.

Not a complete fix, the way the preset system was described means that players will fight over islands to quickly load their presets instead of having to design another preset for another island.

I mean people have different save files for every island, both personal and clans for an x amount. If someone occupied an island, then they can claim other islands and if there’s none then they can server hop I guess. There’s no way that people are stupid enough to waste their time on stealing an island when they can save time by server hopping or using other islands :sob: .

The only clans suffering in the update are the meme clans and unorganized new clans. Give it some time and they’ll eventually correct themselves and get better, just like adapting to anything new that’s added or changed in a game.

Yeah that’s why I said “earning stuff passively for pve” since the things we can earn in the civilization buildings can be used for pve. I would most definitely farm aeroplasts to easily escape pvp situations with the reagent farm.

Well what enemy are you fighting?
