PvE =/= Player vs Enemy
PvE = Player vs Environment
I hate when I have to fight the ground to get them chests out.
Itās a good example, you can lose your stuff to random dark sea RNG so itās an accurate example.
And the concept is really easily explainable it doesnāt need a super advanced example to still be understood.
To me no, to people who play simulator games then yes. My point is that bland and mind numbing is subjective.
Random boss difficultly spike begs to differ
If the entirety of the 1st sea was a tutorial then it would be much smaller, much simpler, and it wouldnāt even be the only sea there was for a year.
And for all I know you could probably be right, but AO does a poor job conveying that.
Is this seriously your argument?
Are you kidding me?
Weāre pandering to simulator players now?
Veteck gotta make moneae.
Ermmm, pve can be either environment or entity (npcs etc.). Examples of things we can earn in the civilization buildings that could be used for pve would be golden petals for ds, aeroplasts as a pve playerās best friend in getting away from pvpheads, clearstones which is used for obvious reasons, bleeding pots to farm shark fins, thereās a lot more but you get the idea.
Of course, pve players arenāt the only ones benefitting here since pvpheads can farm reagents that synergizes with their magic/weapon.
You might have the wrong idea about pve since itās not all about fighting npcs/bosses per se.
Thereās this thing called āplaying with friendsā
Iāve see a few PvE clans, they do in fact exist
Iām pretty sure clans are also getting separated by infamy as well so they donāt have to worry about getting screwed by bigger clans.
coming fresh off a hour and half in the dark sea being lost due to internet going out, this suggestion is sick and why are yāall talking about pve clans in the fishing suggestion
anyways, dredge is a game I played non stop until I had every achievement.
arcane odyssey is a game I actively avoid fishing in because itās too mind numbingly boring and time consuming with what feels like no rewards usually. clearly something needs to change.
Whether or not itās pandering to simulator players isnāt the point.
The point is that everyone has a different perspective on how fun a feature is. So maybe itās just that fishing isnāt for you.
Fr, comparing fishing to clans is so wrong
Redwake teaches you fishing and cooking.
Shura teaches you dashing.
Frostmill teaches you gathering and how to fight basic enemies with magic.
Cirrus introduces you to sky islands and sky ships and introduces some lore.
Elius serves as your first real roadblock.
Sailorās Lodge introduces you to potion brewing and ship combat.
Argos introduces you to the G key and stealth sections.
Ravenna finally lets you get a brig for real ship content.
Calvus is your big final test.
You get your first awakening and lock in your stat build.
Tutorial ends.
No. Do not.
Do not try to dodge what you said there.
I could not possibly give less of a shit if simulator players like AO fishing, if anything thatās even more of a reason to overhaul it.
If weāre attracting simulator players then the game is doing something very very wrong.
anyways this is basically my point.
AO fishing sucks, other games have great fishing mechanics.
Why canāt AO have great fishing mechanics?
Problem with that is both are different genres ngl, one game can focus on the fishing experience while the other has to focus on multiple things as an mmorpg.
We have a ship, a sea, and fishing villages, thatās all you need to set it up as worldbuilding.
Canāt argue with that I guess (suggestion is still feature creep and itās still intimidating to new players)
Iām not dodging what Iām saying, blud
I only brought up simulator players as a specific demographic in response to you saying that fishing is mind numbing as an objective fact. There are probably a bajillion people who like fishing for some reason Iāve never even heard of. Itās not like weāre bringing in simulator players in anyways due to the rest of the game.
Fishing is meant to be simple and thatās just how some things are, not everything needs to be reworked into a highly advanced system.
Good point that I forgot to bring up
Correct.
So why pander to them?
They arenāt coming to this game anyways so why make a mechanic that only they would enjoy when they arenāt even here?
If you have ideas to help fix fishing, then Iām down to hear them, but donāt just sit there and pretend its good where it is because its very very obviously not.
I mean yeah but at best weāll get basic stuff for minor features since the difference with ao is that as an mmorpg, features has to fight with other planned features.
Same reason why digging up treasure charts sucks right now as well since itās made very basic to focus on other features. Although Vetex planned some sort of progression for digging and fishing, dunno how it would turn out.
Having a simplistic game system isnāt pandering to people who play simplistic games. In the next few sentences I said that there are people who enjoy it for some reason who arenāt simulator players.
I did read those sentences.
Even the other guy in this suggestion who didnāt like this suggestion agreed that fishing was shit.
I donāt see a single other person aside from you actually defending AOās fishing āmechanicā.
Hell, YOU donāt even like AO fishing, youāve said as much yourself.
What on earth are you doing?
