Where did all the other people who thought this was a terrible idea go? Why do you guys think this is a good system? This sounds like a massive pain.

Why does this keep happening to me?
One moment, I’m with the majority of people on an opinion, then all the people who aren’t with that opinion show up, and I’m suddenly the only one who thinks it that way, and it’s just a classic Stock moment.

This is a terrible system! More terrible gameplay-wise than never giving up Lost Magics in the first place, because at least then we could have more than one element.

Compared to scrolls this is 10x better is why

I can get behind your idea of it being the magic you’re mutating being changed to something similar to that magic instead of your first magic, but currently Vetex isn’t changing it, likely for some reason we don’t know yet.

I will say this, however. With it being this way, I think it means that every base magic will have at least two tied to it, meaning we’re likely going to see some for ones we haven’t gotten quite yet (like poison, acid, glass, and wood to name a few) in the new total cast of lost magics.

I never said scrolls were good, only that they had the decency to give us a good set of choices.

Firewood magic isn’t going to solve anything for people who wanted combinations like Phoenix and Lunar, or Aether Lightning and Wave.

Nah stock is right we should be able to get magics that aren’t just tied to the base magic we chose so we don’t have fire, hotter fire, and hottest fire as our options

yea, i want gravity but i don’t think any of my bases are gonna get it unfortunately

Gravity was meant to be a wind mutation, so you’ll likely be able to get it from wind and wind based mutations

is it that hard to change your base magic for your things dawg :sob:

I mean it’s still very much subject to change, complaining about it now isn’t exactly going to accomplish much

Technically, I skimmed over the fact that you can swap around your first magic, but that doesn’t fix variety.

Wasn’t everyone yapping about Hecate essence being too hard?

Hold on is there anything stopping us from just swapping our base magic after getting a mutation to get a different set of mutations

Do you want to do that though?

unfortunately none of my bases are wind

It’s likely going to take as much effort to get hecate shards anyway so you might as well suck it up atp

Besides, this is all still subject to change anyway. I know some people don’t like it and want it to change, and it’s likely it will, but if it won’t then you’ll have to do it anyways, so you might as well get used to it before then.

The process is convoluted, and the whole Hecate essence thing is unnecessary, and might even be patched out.

Mutations are a great concept for world building and story; less so for gameplay

It’s not mutation that’s the issue, it’s the choice to make it so that some things can’t be used with mutation.
