So Atlanteans exist because the magic-infested dark seas caused sailors to mutate into sealife, right? So, what if there’s some islands crazy rich with magic energy that it affects anyone staying there for a bit too long…I present you fungi-plant people, Gaians!
The crazy amount of magic energy from the said islands causes the spores from plants to spread and grow much faster, even on living beings. Forcing poor souls to become one with nature and sharing the hivemind need of spreading, just like mother Gaia intended
Using Gaian Spores on items gives CRAZY buff, but for a pesky price. Gaian armors will activate a “Growth timer” once the wearer is in combat. Players have to kill their opponents before the timer runs out, encouraging a very aggressive playstyle or else they die lol
gaians when snow, ice, poison, fire, and wind magic enter the room:
and hear me out, but what if the gaia spores were identically functional to atlantean essence, except, it applied to tools/weapons/consumables instead?
Different types of magically overcharged mutated people kind of gives Made In Abyss vibes. (And the way they just die of internal combustion because of a timer)
I’m kind of expecting every range of the Dark Sea have their own unique gimmick, this could be one of them, or different versions of the Dark Sea depending on which direction you take, overall an interesting concept.
I was thinking IF it actually got added into the game. Some island in the further dark seas are basically the cursed island from the concept, players will get a pop-up or a dialogue or whatever indicating they can’t stay there long.
These type of cursed islands give better loot if the players are quick enough to get them all and leave the island before they mutate
If magic pollution from dark sea causes atlanteans to grow an eel head, surely magic pollution from island causes you to grow a rabbit head. Will be waiting for what its version of the legendary atlantean beast lvl 100k+ would be.
