this i think it might be used here
That rings a bell
When did that happen?
There it is!
another thing. Aether should be on the medium-fast side. theres also aether lightning which is why im saying prob more so medium but definately not slow
there was also a time when a player got it (i think through hacking but still got it)
calvus attacks slower prob cause he a boss
storm conjurer storm conjurer storm conjurer!
I do think it is weird that Aether Lightning and Aethereal Flame are supposed to be fast while Aether is based around being medium in speed, and being charged up.
Stocksounds try not to take some random fact they made up or heard once as complete canon:
Storm conjurer in 2052
Well, I actually got that by observation.
In the Calvus fight, the more recent source of the two, there are two versions of the 500 500 500 attack. One is charged, one is not. The charged one does ridiculous damage, and the not-charged one doesn’t.
So I made a theory that since Aether has really slow charge speed, but not physical speed, it must specialize in being charged, and not just having a really slow speed.
TLDR:
(An educated guess is still making it up, it’s entirely possible calvus’s aether blasts do that because he’s a boss, not cuz it’s Aether’s gimmick)
Well, I’d personally rather Aether and it’s variants to be based around the charging gimmick that it’s become known for rather than just being fast, which it’s not known for.
Oh I like the gimmick, but you still made it up
Would be an interesting concept, but seems like a very risky commitment, especially against players
I am glad you’re focusing on charge speed and not magic speed, considering that’s the major slow part of the aether we’ve seen
However, we’d need to address that it could just be a boss gimmick for fairness
none of calvus’s other spells do that so it’s more reasonable to assume it’s just a property of the spell itself
I mean, other than that, it just doesn’t really add up.
It’s not so much of an educated guess as it is the only logical explanation besides it just being slow, which it’s been shown to not HAVE to be slow from the uncharged 500 500 500
It beats the idea that Calvus and the inventor of the Aethereal Ornament were just stupid.
Charge up a spell just for it to be dodged
We also need to consider that it could just be a boss attack gimmick, so players have to think a little more
It’s like what Crusade said earlier, we can’t really know for sure until someone asks vetex or we get lost magics (unless we get some npc with aether later to compare with)
Also that, yeah
Or Yknow
Boss mechanics, such as: Argos seismic slash being far larger, Argos having beads instinct on a greatsword, shuras unique moves despite low skill, elius having aura as a weapon focused conjurer, Maria’s tentacles being a spell that wouldn’t be player usable, actually the entire Maria bossfight in general, rivals having special extra awakenings, and more
