Lore drop thread(Sorta spoilers)

i think it makes sense

honor is a really big thing for them (think ivar killing his comrade for even daring to intrude on the 1v1), and they probably wouldn’t want to get power through cheap and easy ways

only thing is they do drink those stereoid potions so maybe? maybe the potions were made by an order member and then distributed or something, but i feel like some of the stronger members of keraxe are heavily against the potions and probably would side with us against aesir or something

i dunno im just spitballing

I mean there’s gotta be some people in there who don’t care about honor. I bet the guy named after loki probably isn’t very honorable, for one. It’d be good in general to see people from Keraxe not all have identical beliefs about cowardice and honor in combat.

I’m just saying, they’re vikings and their leaders named after Norse gods. And there’s a group that’s named after a group of the Norse gods. It’d just be weird to have absolutely zero association.

fair enough

I swear I remember Tech saying there was no mind control or anything like that involved but I’m way too lazy to find that right now. Remind me tomorrow maybe

I myself am indifferent to Zeus using actual spatial manipulation (in the way that Uro does as you mentioned) since personally it doesn’t feel very Zeus-y in that his primary weapon is usually his lightning bolts. But this usage is actually an insanely cool marriage between the two, I love the idea of his lightning bolts literally striking with the weight of the sky. Helps make it more godly than just being lightning and also lends credence to his lightning keeping the gods in line and taking down ones like Typhon

i remember Durza or Acheron is being controlled by Hade through Absorbption curse (now called blessing)

i think its also like despite the order being evil pieces of shit, they are reasonable pieces of shit that are trying to save the world because they live in the world and they dont wanna die

kinda gets to the point of “does the end justify the means?”

They could be doing to save the world and gain power. Ruling a dying world isn’t very fulfilling is it?

I suppose… But i’d rather live and be ruled over than… not live…

That’s the dilemma silas and co will have to face.

Well, it does bring up a conundrum. Sure, you may not be willing to live in a saved but oppressed world, but does that give you the right to sacrifice said world with all its inhabitants? Perhaps, somewhere, some people are ready to fight against the regime in a saved world. Is it fair of you to kill the world in the name of stopping the bad guys?

Of course, we all know that’s hardly the level of writing that will be achieved.

yup. we’ll probably just beat up the order then the game will end. (if we ever get that far)

Also we have 1/3 progress to saving the world (poseidons soul) and that group for Athena knowledge has 1 too so we can say we are 2/3 close to it.
So unfortunately we so in fact have complete moral supremacy in this regard

Wait the reclaimers already have one soul???

Wait lemme check

No they don’t, I remembered wrong

I never said they would end the world, instead they would save the world, so they could rule it by harnessing the power that is “ending the world”; They could still pose themselves as anti-heroes, despite not being one, kind of similar to what Calvus did, and it would make way more sense because they aren’t oblivious to what they do, even the “necessary evil” argument cannot be made.

I don’t think people really realize how a cult like the Order would actually work, low-ranking agents may actually believe in the ideology that they’re actually trying to do something good, and they are the “necessary evil” in a necessary situation. But the High Lords running everything aren’t stupid, they know what they do in its actuality, because that’s how an agenda works.

Calvus, who himself is a high-lord is the literal evidence of that — He tried to justify his actions by saying how those are necessary for his nation and the War Seas, it quite literally isn’t! If the Order was actually trying to save the world, he could’ve just said so, instead he went in circles about how their influence is necessary for the stability of the War Seas and etc. That’s because the ones leading a cult aren’t as mindless as the ones following it, hence why they are the ones everyone listens to. If someone like Calvus, Argos, or Jorund can rise through the ranks of the Order and lead it, then it’s imperative that the other leaders also have personal goals in mind, and the Order as a whole has ulterior motives, and the High Lords are actively aware of this corrution and know how to exploit it.

The Order of Aesir trying to “save the world”, would only realistically work if they knowingly use it as an agenda to justify they’re clearly evil non-related actions, and sway people to their side.

Okay but I’m not saying what I think is more likely to be true, I’m just saying I think it’d be more interesting if it was an ends don’t justify the means situation.

Please become the writer of ao cuz this sounds actually good and nuanced

In case of the Order of Aesir, the means literally have nothing to do with the end. If someone as corrupt as Calvus can become a High Lord there, then that means the Order was never genuinely going for a “ends justify the means” ideology, instead they were just using it as an excuse to further their goals, and whatever the hell else they want.
