Introduction

Hello again I AM DRATULAAAAA wolfhowl.wav it is I, Dracula! Ever since I did my first playthrough as a Berserker where I dedicated myself to Basic Combat I started wondering just what could raw magical energy, known as aura accomplish if a martial artist master spent decades honing their aura into something that could empower and replenish them by not only drawing magic energy out of themself but drawing it in from their environment. I’ve mulled the thought over a lot in my head and taken some inspiration to create what I think is a pretty awesome style!

The inspirations for this style are primarily Mana Matter from Tsukimichi and various applications of Nen from Hunter x Hunter although this has a stronger focus on support and all-around buffing than the more destructive amplification of both of those.

Aura Manifesting

“A mentally taxing style in which the user releases and channels their immense aura into visible, condensed raw magic energy replenishing and empowering the user and allies alike that come into contact with it.”

[Mechanics]

  • When attacking with a technique or imbued skill using this fighting style the player will create clouds and puddles of their raw magic energy that are very short-lived as the energy will dissipate quickly. Aura clouds from this fighting style fade much faster than aura puddles due to their lower energy density and cohesion.

  • Each use of a technique or imbued skill cannot create more than 1 cloud and puddle.

  • Aura clouds on contact with the user or allies will replenish up to a maximum of ~60% of the total energy cost of the attack, visually shrinking quickly and making the player absorbing it glow slightly for a brief moment.

  • Aura puddles on contact with the user or allies will slightly buff overall damage and speed and heavily buff attack size for the one absorbing it, though only users of the style receive the buff at full strength. Of course these effects would apply to all build types and not just for those that use fighting styles. The duration of this effect would be ~10 seconds for non-users and ~20 seconds for users of the style. Puddles will also visibly shrink albeit slightly slower and cause the player absorbing it to glow even brighter, the effect lingering for the duration of the buff.

  • Unlike aura clouds which absorb almost immediately, aura puddles can be partially absorbed if the player steps off of them too soon.

  • When the effects of either aura clouds or puddles are applied they go on their own separate hidden cooldown periods of ~10 seconds before they can be applied to the same player again. This allows for allies to actually receive the effects of this style and prevents it from being completely effortless to gain the benefits of their effects. In the case of aura puddles this cooldown only begins when the maximum effect of the buff is applied.

  • The energy restored from aura clouds and the total strength of the buff from aura puddles depends on the physical size of both, both scaling in size noticeably less than for magic types.

  • The buff from aura puddles never stacks however the duration does reset when absorbing a new puddle.

  • The stronger effect of aura puddles exclusive to users of the style will only apply if someone has the style or a weapon imbued with it equipped to prevent abuse of the mechanic. They will still however have the longer duration as they can retain the energy within more efficiently.

  • The first player to stand in a cloud or puddle will be the only one to receive the effects of them and both can be absorbed at the same time.

  • All techniques and imbued skills using this style cost ~15% more energy due to the user releasing and condensing so much of their aura. It also incentivizes the user to make use of their clouds more often.

  • In no way shape or form do the clouds or puddles of this style affect NPCs or enemy players other than being a slight visual obstruction for enemy players.

[Base Stats]

Damage Speed Size
Low Low Bad

[Fully Buffed Stats]

Damage Speed Size
Decent Good High

Stats are relative to the style tier’s average, such as 1x for base tier. Low < Bad < Weak < Average < Decent < Good < High. The attack size of this style fully buffed wouldn’t be too close to Radius Fist’s.

[Dodge Reflex]

  • Special Effect: Damage Reduction (25%) Visually the player coats their body in fully condensed raw magic energy heavily reminiscent of Mana Matter and mechanically leaves a trail of small aura puddles that apply the stat buff in very small amounts.
  • Instant: No

[VFX/SFX]

The visual and sound effects when flaunting would have the user release a bulbous, liquid-like gaseous pure white aura with tiny sparkles appearing within while a deep, slime-like sloshing noise faintly plays. At the same time tiny droplets would form and drip to the ground though they wouldn’t form any puddles for performance. At high mastery when equipped or imbued this style would constantly release the user’s aura as gas and slowly drip viscous raw magic energy. Notably, awakened warlocks and savants would have the color of this entire style tinged slightly in the color of their first magic though the particles themselves wouldn’t change without imbuing. Footprints left by stepping in aura puddles will fade very quickly into sparkles, creating a very neat trailing footprints effect.

[Summary]

This fighting style is designed to be a very effective support style that forces the user to occasionally remain stationary to replenish the cost of their attacks partially and buff themselves or allow their teammates to benefit from the style’s effects instead. It is very easy to hit with when fully buffed though doesn’t do a ton of damage for a lost style, performing best as a secondary fighting style or in more defensive builds. Aesthetically this style is excellent for cosplaying especially for warlocks and savants and should fit very well within the lore for fighting styles and raw/pure magic energy.

How balanced is this fighting style?

This just… goes against lore.
like.
alot.
Raw magic energy can only be used in miniscule amounts, through trace energy in stuff like weapon aura, and powder fists explosions.
Yet you want this style to create whole ass CLOUDS AND PUDDLES OF IT.

ok but it’s cool

But it doesn’t work with the lore in the slightest.

Okay, but it’s cool though (also most people stopped caring about vetex’s lore ages ago)

Doesn’t mean we should start adding shit that directly contradicts it.
Vetex cares, and he owns the damn game.
Theres only 3 ways you can directly use raw magic energy in actual meaningful amounts:
Your Chaos itself
Your a god, cause im sure they could do it too
You have the Energy Curse (this is why i said the second one, because how else would Prometheus have created it if he couldn’t manipulate raw magic energy properly?)

So I asked some questions about magic energy in this topic a while back about raw/pure magic energy. Ellis asked the first 3 questions of that post to Vetex directly and here are his responses. Also the questions were:

  1. What color is pure magic energy and what does it look like?
  2. Has anyone in lore made use of elementless/pure magic energy?
  3. Has any non-deity and non-curse user been able to use magic without a circle and survive?

With that we can infer that while traditional spell casting is not possible some limited control over their aura is possible and is what makes turning your aura into literal iron without even possessing iron magic possible. Finding a way to release more of it than normal and condense it down into physical matter is not a far stretch for a lost fighting style, y’know the tier where people can store up kinetic energy and release it all at once with Impact Fist or physically touch things with their aura using Radius Fist. The technique used in this style isn’t spell casting, it’s just a different way of manipulating one’s aura. Respectfully I’ve not seen you even once throw around constructive criticism, you’re always mad.

4 ways if you count being strong enough to use lost fighting styles or above. It’s very limited right now because the player is only strong enough to wield base tier styles. Again this isn’t magic, it’s just two different methods of manipulating one’s aura combined that being controlling how quickly you can release it, and condensing it down enough to form physical matter. That’s not even remotely impossible within lore.

Oh I forgot one more mechanic somehow, hold up! Forgot to specify that all techniques using this style cost ~15% more energy than normal. I also forgot to include the balance poll. Might as well also include a poll on if it fits into lore to ratio the hell out of this dude.

There we go, new polls and that missing mechanic added in!

Alright, lets take a look at your last 3 suggestions:
1, this one, which can go several ways if added, among them being A - breaking the lore and B - being HELL to balance
2, a fighting style that brings a mechanic that should stay in story and nowhere else into pvp due to it being unfair.
3, pointless due to Agility’s removal.
I don’t know why i bother clicking on your topics anymore.

Okay, fair enough, just don’t then. It’s evident we have wildly different perspectives on the game as a whole where our opinions tend to not line up. It’s worth noting though that you are among the loud overwhelming minority in every single one of those examples which is less indicative of my suggestions being bad and more indicative of something going on with you. I don’t mean to insult you, but I’m afraid I’ve done all I can to ensure my suggestions are designed well and consider every perspective fairly, but you continue to be upset. If I can’t make you happy with my suggestions I’m sorry, you’ll just have to focus on other people’s ideas then or get a suggester role and come up with your own. A lot of work and thought goes into each of these suggestions. I’ve yet to make a suggestion with an effort and quality rating below 4.5.

Remember, if you don’t like someone or what they do then just block them and move on

I know, I just did. I’m just actually confronting this kind of behavior (mostly) as respectfully as I can and then moving on. Anyways, can’t wait to see the reviews on my suggestion!

I was saying that more towards nilexrl

Ohhh okay. Yeah noticing a theme that the feedback is always a bit uh, exaggerated on the first 12 hours.

Slight rant but yeah it feels bizarre to say that this isn’t lore friendly when using a base fighting style characters can already literally shape their aura and their attacks into complex shapes like the heads of different animals and that changes the properties of their attacks. I don’t know man. Can change the properties of your aura to reflect magic types you don’t even have genetically, change the shape to alter how an attack using your aura affects the target, absorb magical energy from drinking sea water, and literally turn invisible using it at base tier but condensing it into a different state of matter that temporarily invigorates and empowers those that absorb it at lost tier is too much?

As aura is basically just diet magic, assume most things done with magic can be replicated if you trained hard enough with aura

At first i dislikee the idea of this fighting style when you mentionned it in game discussion. But now i see how cool and unique it is, i could honestly see something similar being added. Keep pumping up these suggestions fs ideas that are good are rare.
