but if your character wears any vanity that covers their eyes the trident impales you

When you carry cargo and someone hits you, you instantly die and all your money goes into that cargo so they can steal it

Whittling - You can now use a dagger and wood to make figurines of characters in the main story
Bottling - You can now put products of whittling into bottles

Island parts, when broken, do not respawn.
Earth, sand, Ice, and Snow magic can create permanent-ish terrain (in the sense of “lasts until destroyed”).
Wood, Earth, Metal, and Glass magic users get special quests (and spells), to (re)create buildings that were destroyed.
(Probably not the worst, but I wanted something that sounds like it COULD happen)
Also, every “mage” (as in, anyone capable of using magic) can learn any number of magics, but for any magic type not unlocked as it works in normal AO, you need to find scrolls for any spells, not just the lost ones, and you cannot modify those, only choose to forget them. (You cannot see the exact specifications of a spell scroll, until you have used it).
Also, you cannot put non-normal unlocked magic into your hotbar, and everytime you use a spell, you deselect stuff that isn’t in there, and your inventory gets shuffled.
for every player that picks a magic, the overall power of that magic is reduced
so for example if theres 50 people who pick a magic with 1x damage, and theres 25 people who pick another magic with 1x damage, the second magic will deal double the damage of the first one as it has less people
would ruin the game as people constantly try to find the best magic, but end up making that the worst magic in the process

The hotbar cannot be used. Every time you deselect something, your inventory gets shuffled.
And, if you want to be extra evil, every time you use whatever you have selected, it gets unselected.
