hmmmm
considering the new health regen changing from scaling off your defense stat to scaling off your base hp, the fact that vitality users get that specific armor stat that scales off their vitality amount that lets them heal faster than everyone else now, and this new armor piercing change, this is gonna prevent non vitality users from being tanky now

though this change does counter vitality users a bit since a vit hybrid with 100 vit still needs to run like 400-500 defense to be considered tanky compared to 700-800 with non vitality builds
still though with the other 2 things it shouldnā€™t hurt them that much

I might be wrong though since my memory about the changes are a bit fuzzy on these things atm but this is what Iā€™m thinking

this update is going to make combat way more interesting

Reject the competetive pvp, return to casual pve

my hope is that armor piercing would work similar to drawback or warding where itā€™s a stat that comes in small amounts on items and has serious impacts on the stats of the item as a whole- youā€™d have to deal with low stats in general to get lots of AP which would mean you would become a glass cannon tank buster which

Blockings already barely used by people at the lower levels of pvp this just further increases the incentive to NEVER press G. Dodging is so much more valuable.

And % health damage against high defense builds? Wtf kinda stupid idea is that! If I BUILD high defense, I shouldnā€™t get PUNISHED for sacrificing other stats for survivability. Well hell its not even survivability at this point since no matter how much defense you have you regen at base health rate.

This is either going to be underpowered and useless, or push people away from using tank builds. Oh, vitality classes, you sacrifice damage to get some extra health? Well hah! Take that, you basically spent those points for nothin!

I know its a bit early to freak out but still.

It only says it does more damage to people with defense, it doesnā€™t mention hp or vitality. I donā€™t really see it being that good since the meta might become high power regen builds and people will run less defense because of the regen changes.

The problem is this stat is going to swing wildly in one direction. Itā€™s either going to be so bonkers as a niche stat that having built defense against people who use armor pen is an active detriment, or its going to be so weak in its own niche that there is no point in using it.

Vitality and hp being affected as a base is unimportant, that was just me yappinā€™. The problem is that many vitality builds build FURTHER defense because they want to BE tanky. Having high survivability is their whole gimmick. Obviously we canā€™t really make any judgements without knowing exactly how much regen gives you and how much bonus damage armor penetration gives you, but it just frustrates me because it feels like the games tightening down to a very few, repetitive playstyles in its combat. The option to play defensively, focus on outlasting and outwitting your opponent is dwindling.

Yeah weā€™ll see if itā€™s any better than a full power build. Problem with armor penetration is that it doesnā€™t help that much agaisnt non defense builds.

Unless you know that youā€™re going to fight a defense user you might be better off building pure power.

I did simular rant about drawback when 1.14 came out. And I fully agree with you

That being said, gonna utilize this 100%

with this stat being added, it would be cool if vetex added a shield rare spell and some kind of defensive ability for fighting styles, so all builds can have defensive options and not just warrior

bro, vetex, the fuck ur cooking, ik the pvp side its mainly handled by the balance team but what the fuck, how is this even a bit helpful in pve or exploration

What do you mean just warrior? Are you talking about the awakening change on the balance doc? (4th weapon slot? Thatā€™s not a shield slot, you can equip any weapon with it and most people wonā€™t waste a weapon slot for a shield.

Also any weapon build can equip a shield, not just warriors. Theyā€™re mostly used by knights and savants.

And about a defensive ability for fstyles. Are you forgetting boxingā€¦?

Bosses like to block and parry while casting, dodging, attacking, healing etc. Theyā€™re literally always blocking with no indication
