Open World PvP is a problem

That’s like asking a person who just got punched in the face how many years of his life expectancy he has lost bc of that punch. Yes it is pretty much inconsequential, that doesn’t justify it.

I don’t believe that the game should be completely changed because low-levels can get killed, but there should certainly be limiters. A level 140 shouldn’t be able to kill a level 50, take all of their renown, and steal 300 of their galleons. That is where my issue lies.

Lowkey that just means you’re ass at assessing risk in a server. If you really were getting as ganked as often as you claim then you’d be finding small servers with no clan members and no one with a bounty or high player kills to grind in. Low level gankers are pretty much non existent in non clan servers, even better if there are no max levels in the server of your choosing.

Mmm, what servers does your PC generally link you to? That may be the cause.

I fail to see how it does not? The way few people are expressing it sounds like the game is straight unplayable to them

If your losing a major resource then IMO it’s TIME and if Time isn’t an issue then I need to know what exactly your losing as a low level that’s causing so much issue to justify change

Fair enough honestly, I think a limit raise or limit change could be done cuz I honestly see no issue with it.

nowadays clan players don’t seem to bother too lol, I claim harvest with huge bounty and infamy and people don’t seem to bother, I can keep my island open access and no one attacks it

there was one time someone tried to spam kill me when i was just trying to beat Calvus for the main questline when i was still barely over 100, with a very much not optimized build, i didn’t even have much fame, or that much gold then

and the ganking is mainly a problem for low levels cause apperently ppl like to bully other ppl (2/3 characters got ganked when i was around level 50 by someone who was like level 125+)
but now that my profiles are all high level i don’t have that issue that often

it’s the new players that join or ppl making a new character that suffer, new ppl get chased away cause they are just trying to play this new game and they experience the suffering very quickly

…can you really say that people are assassinating your character? This does more than just imply that you grip random players whenever you damn well want; just about everybody with reading comprehension at the level they should be at would interpret it this way.

Also, some players in this thread have said they straight-up can’t play PvP effectively, if at all. The stuff they can do against this is so little, that a visual representation would be the Adobe Premier Media Missing screen.

Now this paragraph ain’t targeted towards you, but for the recent argument of whatever; just because y’all don’t get ganked below the max level doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. I’ve had it happen to me a couple of times, so I KNOW it happens.

@crimis_cringle Limiters should’ve been a thing for ages, although I only realized it when you brought it up.

It FEELS bad, you are being unfairly forced to participate in something you don’t want to when you’re just enjoying yourself doing something else. Also I think it’s not ok to force even a maxed player to fight. Consent is key.

Server hopping is sometimes really annoying, and when I join a server, look at the players and server hop if necessary, but sometimes people join the server while i am in the middle of fighting a boss or doing a cargo run or something of the like, and either I don’t notice or decide it isn’t worth a server hop.

Need to increase PVP limit, I think we can honestly put the shield and make it optional until level 125 ATLEAST (after awakening), cuz i think the difficulty curve shouldn’t be as early as it is RN

I mean there’s also the part where it’s a part of the game experience, I can agree if it’s done in ridiculous amounts at low levels but low levels usually don’t lose anything and high levels just need to deal with it,

ive played this game for over 600+ hours and I really don’t see these happening as much as people express them which is why i want to see people actually prove it with a statistics

it’s also clear that a MAJORITY aren’t complaining about this, cuz it’s likely that you just had bad luck and met the wrong people

Not really an excuse, you wanted a way to PvE safely then thats what you’re going to have to do. No one is removing PvP because players can’t spend more than 5 minutes choosing a safe server, especially with the addition of server select and clan servers. If someone joins you while doing cargo then you need to find out where they spawn and then determine if you’re sailing towards or against them. If you’re sailing towards, then deposit at nearest shipwright. If you’re sailing against, then keep doing your thing cause no one’s going to find you if you’re already halfway to your destination

Yeah I agree that it’s not that much of an issue rn, but getting rid of agility will take away one of the most reliable ways people have to disengage from forced pvp. Thankfully we will get that ship feature that won’t allow players to board someone’s ship until sunk or heavily damaged , we’ll have to wait and see how the playerbase reacts.

just to note, Getting rid of agility is a change done not for PVP reasons but because vetex didn’t like it and it wasn’t lore accurate to him

This just happens to make PVP balancing easier, I think disengaging from PVP should be encouraged with strategic use of moves which we CURRENTLY lack due to the lack of complex attacks and skills but with the addition of moves like towering impact I’m sure we will get tons of escape skills later down the line

we don’t even need complex moves to escape all yall have to do is spam dash away

i’ve been on the leaderboard
i’ve done ganking for clan infamy
i’ve been ganked for my own clan infamy
i can tell you guys with 100% certainty as someone who runs zero agility that escaping a gank is that simple
