A progression doesn’t mean a game isn’t pvp based lol, a pvp based game is a game that encourages the player to heavily pvp and mostly relies on combat to advertise itself and keep players entertained which is what deepwoken does.
Theres numerous progression path that also rely on pvp, the entirety of deepwoken is essentially “hey, you can always get attacked by someone else so learn how to fight”
Killing players isnt obligatory MOST of the timee but it literally grants you easier progression too, and its the main fun factor
Poser take supreme dude did you even play AO in the first place because it just feels like as soon as you get killed ONCE you leave the game for the next 3 Months
A “pvp centric” RPG would be built from the ground up off of of pvp.
Most if not all aspects of the game would be directly tied to pvp.
You cannot say that a mechanic is the “core” or “center” of your game if it is tied to nothing.
You are an idiot, thank you for confirming in plain english.
“of your game is tied to nothing”
Voidwalkers
Combat feature that only exists for pvp
Contractor
Starkindred
Silentheart
Bells
Literall talents that only work for player vs player combat
Guild
Oaths
TO be FAIR, they added option for Contractor/Linkstrider to be PVE progressed if u didnt know starkindred however still requires 1 grip, and voidwalker doesnt need to PvP (you can do it if you can reliably kill above your weight class) still btw (they buffed bounty exp but ppl still wants to PvE with it).
People actually do that. I got hunted 2 times in a week on 100 (I kept resetting it but it kept going a little up) renown. I asked why and the killer said ‘player kills.’
some pvpers are INCREDIBLY lame.
edit: checked your profile and i’m 90% sure you tried to hunt me once, it was a guy called lorio..
using lightning conjurer
edit 2: actually though, stop this lightning conjurer madness
given half your list and that I apparently somehow know more about deepwoken’s progression systems than you do, I’m going to guess you don’t actually play that either lol.
Dont bother. These people would rather have an AO clicker game than one where player to player interactions, good and bad, can happen.
They’re probably the same ones who moaned about dark souls invasions to the point that in their next game Elden ring, the whole pvp covenants thing was left desolate and empty
yeah I’m usually not happy when game design allows and encourages people to super easily be assholes to each other for no reason because it makes any social interaction in the game feel substantially worse.
all that for what? tension that nobody asked for or wanted?
if you want to check over your shoulder every 3 seconds whenever you talk to somebody, go play rust or something. that’s like half the appeal of the game.
