Man, I am with you on the fact of not liking stories where effort can’t make you the strongest, really.
But no matter how much we dislike that, here some facts that no matter how much we yap, we can never change ourselves.
1° Quoting Vetex himself, repeated numerous times: MAGIC (and maybe spirit) TRIUMPH OVER EVERYTHING ELSE!!!
The literal reason that someone can learn with effort to punch a hole into a mountain, step on the air or fire a flying slash, is that he has magic in him and no matter how little he has, he can learn to move around a little of it.
So literally, inescapably and inevitably:
MAGIC IS THE POWER SYSTEM OF THE AU
2° and believe me, I would really like if it changed and I hope so every single day, until the literal description of magic says that ONLY THE ONES LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE BORN WITH IT CAN LEARN TO USE IT, and with IT I mean the true potential of magic, the one that are not born lucky are destined to have a lower innate potential.
Can they do something about it?
Sure, they can rely on external factors, like curses or spirit weapons.
No one is gonna disqualify them for cheating or use of drugs, I guess.
And most importantly, they can manage to stay alive, that it’s not of little importance, mind you.
But if you mean running for the place of strongest in the world relying only on their innate abilities, then it’s a no.
It’s not that unreal, even in real live if you are not born with incredible talent you won’t be able to run for the position of 1st in the world, it’s a title that carries that much importance.
Anyone that says:
if I give it my all, even if I have no talent, I’ll surely succeed…
Yeah, don’t know how to tell you man, but life is not that sweet.
You are severely underestimating the world.
