Do what you want.
But, and believe me, my heart cries saying this, until Vetex changes the lore itself (and the declarations he made), my two points stands as dogmas:
1° Magic wins against everything else (maybe spirit is equal)
2° Only the lucky ones born with it can learn magic.
spirit is equal but spirit weapons are even rarer than magic
@vetex, hey, sorry for the ping, I know I’m like, kind of not really allowed to do this but, I just really have a lot of questions pertaining strength as a stat that I kind of want cleared up since unless I’m misunderstanding things a lot there seems to be kind of a few loopholes and oddities that make strength seem equal in terms of power to magic, though people are saying it is not the case exactly.
-strength is something usable by anyone, and strength skills all use this “aura” that I keep hearing, but I guess aura is just “weaker” magic? this leads me to my question, which is that magic as a concept is only something I guess those lucky to be born with can be used, but since aura is a magic in its own way, how come anyone can use it through weapons/strength, and can’t zerkers reach the same levels as mages with enough training since there doesn’t seem to really be any limit to magic attunement? I guess you could make the argument that human limitation prevents this, but the awakening diamond for zerkers is called “berserker’s skill”, which implies that their abilities are actually technique and mastery based, rather than brute strength, which is what warlord’s awakening diamond says “warlord’s strength”
-my next question is, in relation to minds, are they genuinely retconned or not? or do they still exist, but just in a different form? without minds, wouldn’t that mean zerkers and warriors wouldn’t have to worry about awakening anything to compete with mages since minds were what originally let mages use magics to begin with? or am I misunderstanding something here as well.
easy ban
I bet magic or fists can’t beat the power of a flintlock rifle
well apparently magic is in all 3 of those things but for some reason 1 of those things is just “better” and I’m not really grasping why.
and y’know the whole “human limitation” thing doesn’t apply to weapons since, well, weapons aren’t human, so why are they considered inferior? (ignoring the obvious hypermagic doused arcanium stuff)
I don’t use twitter (or X whatever)
though I guess I could’ve done this next time
at the end of the day vetex is just another human being like you and me I don’t get why y’all are acting like I just disrespected some kind of deity
I always thought that they only struggle against curse users tbh and it makes sense. You can only damage the spirit of curse users so obviously the thing that’s pure magic would outdamage the physical attacks that only have a little bit of magic in them
im not, im just saying you broke a rule and you might get punished for it
dont think youre above the rules
well I kinda don’t want to delete the comment to repost it in a DM and I want everyone else to see the answer (if Vetex responds) so we can have some form of finality
i guess we will see
oracles eating good rn
paladins are the true superior class in this case
apparently hybrids are just like better than pure builds which honestly is kind of nutty and it’s I guess another question I have in regards to the AU
is savant supposed to be the strongest class in AO lorewise?
I mean, i think it’s more so that they have the same limits, so a mage will likely know a really good spell earlier but a savant will be able to learn that much later
The madman really did it.
I pray for your safety.
All in all, I understand and respect your curiosity, since I also had the same questions, so I’ll try to answer some points, for what little a understood, hoping to have the correct understanding and not confuse anyone more.
The main point is the difference between aura and true magic.
Let’s compare magic to rl electricity.
Now, aura, or magic energy control, would be our normal approach to electricity, basically applying a force that moves around the electrons.
We can make them move or stop, control approximately the quantity that moves and the direction.
But that’s it.
Now, on the other end, true magic, obtained through magic circles, for which innate talent is needed, could be compared to the ability to control the singular electrons.
The spectre of possibilities is totally different.
The applications almost limitless.
