The Arcane Universe is... pretty bleak ngl

-in the context of a war between Kingdoms, the war might be decided when one side destroys the other sides Curse user (like taking someones king in chess- a kingdom with a curse vs a kingdom without a curse will always win). The conditions for a war to be won might be a bit more straightforward in AO than it is in our world.

AU is pretty much our world just combobulated into magic stuff, its probably like Medieval era in our world battles like when battles of 1k vs 500 took place in different regions, also AU has lost like A LOT of humans in the past, so participants being fewer in wars is right.

it is like real life basically. in AO the magic system is basically if youre born strong then you are strong. but those who born magicless needed to spend their entire life Just to get stronger

is like real life situation, whoever born “natural smart” (who can solve math in ten second) are considered lucky
but those who are average needed to study hard to for it.

the game took “realistic” too hard ngl

I guess Curses basically serve the same role as nukes in our world, but magicky. Makes me wonder if there’s a sort of MAD doctrine as part of the peace deal between Ravenna, Keraxe, and Sameria.

I don’t know about that. At the same time, there hasn’t been a lot of expansion (not that I’m aware of) when it comes to pure-magicless folk in AO. I’ve mostly been comparing AO to One Piece where everyone has some level of potential when it comes to energy- keyword, “energy”, and not “magic energy”.

I’d assumed that everyone has “energy”, but only a select few have “magic energy”. So anyone can be a berserker or a warrior, just that they’ll be a whole lot weaker than some dude who just awakened the other day. At some point their power levels will equalize, but after that, the Mage would grow more powerful than the “Energy User” since magic works outside human limits. That could be a theory or a wildly accurate guess.

yeah like, non mages cannot be strong as the mage itself. that’s a harsh truth to see though :')

technically yeah but in practice its recommended to just do Hybrid or Pure class first in order to start doing Savant because you literally have to train 4-3 things at once which is only effective if you really can handle that or else progress is just going to be far too slow
Calvus is great example of savant, he had some capabilites at apocalypse bringer magic so it obvious he had to do magic to be as much stronger as possible but instead he picked savant which just wasnt for him

non mages cant be strong as mage unless they find a spirit weapon, which there are very few of
i assume canonically the easiest way to find one would be to kill someone in your sea cluster using it
the easiest way to get an unused one would be to kill a satyr

Mages thinking they’re the strongest when suddenly the paladin casually slides into the general vicinity:

theyre as powerful, not more than
using 2 things of equal power doesnt necessarily boost power
if i had a pistol and a rifle of equal caliber that doesnt mean i could beat the guy with a rifle of the same caliber but more skill

it’s not really a “pistol” and a rifle it’s more like owning 2 AK-47s (one is slightly more worn down than the other but it’s still usable) while the other sucker just has 1 that’s in alright condition

ok

in other words

you’re cooking that mage

nuh uh
mage is more skilled in magic so he has better attacks but i can disorient him with my extra attacks

mages are just nerds who spend to much time pondering their orbs whereas palabros have figured out how to basically create hollow purple by combining creation and chaos into 1 attack

(well it’s not really a combination more like putting 1 on top of the other but the effort is still there)

how aren’t you banned yet

Well at the end of the day the giant discussion we had yesterday wasn’t exactly in bad intention we were all talking about AO related lore

and I assume Vetex probably just won’t check/doesn’t care enough

famous last words

Well uhm actkstually it wasn’t a false ping sooo :nerd:

(and if it was bad the mods could’ve just deleted the message if they wanted to)

the real issue is that usually only patrons can ping vetex for questions
