The NPCs and Old Content of Online Fighting

A little while ago, Online Fighting was Uncopylocked. It wasn’t until now I decided to dig into the code to try finding old lore and shenanigans, and what I found is pretty damn cool. Even though the game was uncopylocked, I have never seen anyone post about the internals (or I just missed it).

These are the Curses currently found in OF

Curses

Growth Curse is physically nowhere to be found because the video showcase of the curse was an admin and the curse itself was incomplete. What I find interesting is the list of curses in the code

Dark Lightning really did make it into the game huh? If I had to guess, Divine Curse would be similar to Aether or Light, and Reaper Curse would be similar to Death or Shadow. That’s all the curses that would’ve been in the game, but without the mentions of the Magma, Lazarus, and Time curse via Trigno, Freedrock, and Sond. The best explanation for those is that their curses weren’t made/considered at the time so eh

These are the NPCs that are important today or are interesting. I also dug through their dialog

Trigno

Screenshot (1598)

His Design never changed throughout time eh? Jokes aside, this is where he got booted off the One-Shot Pirates and stranded with the Magma Curse. The fact that he said he swam there is fun, considering he couldn’t + he was dropped off

DIALOG
Intro - “Hey.”
Question Option - “My name is Trigno of the One-Shot Pirates.”
Location Option - “Oh, this place? Eh, people call it Sand Dune Isle, and it belongs to the Wilderness area.”
Decline` - “My cruel captain threw me overboard for trying to steal out of his Sea Curse collection…”
Decline2 - “I swam here, but now I can’t find a way off this island…”

Rupin (Ruppin)

The Green Pants Fire Warrior in the Volcano Island that held the Fire Curse. From the look of the dialog, Rupin didn’t sound that aggressive considering you’re only there for the Fire Curse he’s supposed to be protecting

DIALOG
Intro - “State your business.”
Who Are You? Option - “I am Ruppin, older brother of Pelat. I am a regular guard of this island.”
Where Am I? Option - “This place is called the Sea Volcano, or Flame Shrine. This island is part of the Giant Forest area.”
Exploring Option - “Oh. Well, you must not know what lies on this island, do you?”
Deny/No Return - “See this thing behind me? It’s called a Sea Curse.”
Return Continue - “Sea Curses give you inhuman powers, but make it difficult to swim in the ocean.”
Return Continue - “This Sea Curse is called the Fire Curse, which gives you the ability to summon and command the element of fire.”
Return Continue End - “Sea Curses that give the ability of an element are classified as Elementum Sea Curses.”

Pelat

Screenshot (1605)
The apparent younger sibling of Rupin. I guess it’s his younger sister considering the hair, but her hair is questionable genetic-wise. This is very interesting though since we get a bit of an insight into his family that he murdered via the Fire Curse.

DIALOG
Intro - “Hi.”
Continue - “I’m a bounty hunter looking for money.”
Return - “I need money to sail back to my homeland in the Grand Forest Islands.”

Gomulous

Screenshot (1596)
This NPC was one of the more interesting. He’s located in the sand tower where the Sand Curse is located, and it begs the question. Is he simply a local who knows about the Sand Curse? Is he a protector like Rupin is? Does he have relations to the Ramses Royal Family Line? Who knows

DIALOG
Intro - “Hello!”
Continue - “This is called Grandsand Mountain. It is the first island on the Deep Sea, and is rumored to house the Sand Curse.”

Freedrock

Screenshot (1597)
Just like Trigno, his drip is immaculate over the years. Anyways I don’t think he changed that much at all. He’s still pessimistic as fuck that he deliberately stayed on the island for 2 months when the AG (Marines at the time) sunk his boat. Though I have to mention whether or not Vetex made Lazarus at this point so it’s whatever

The Boat in Question:

DIALOG
Intro - “Hello There.”
Question Option - “I have been trapped on this lonely island for two months now…”
Decline1 - “The Marines sunk my ship while I was here looting the island…”
Decline2 - “You can take whatever treasure you find here, since I will probably live out the rest of my days here…”
Location Option - “Hmm… According to my Sea Chart, this island is called Lowroof Island, belonging to the Wilderness area.”

Sond

Screenshot (1599)
THE SOND! THE SOND IS REAAAALLLLL! This was part of the reason why I dug the code, to find out if Vetex forgot or if he really did exist. It’s like a 50/50 though after finding out. First, He’s a Sword Vendor. Second, I didn’t find any mention of him being a legendary bounty hunter or the existence of the Time Curse, so I believe that info was way after Online Fighting. He also sells basic wooden swords, despite him being a wooden katana user like Tech/The Old Trello described

DIALOG
Intro - “Hello There!”
Location Option - “This island is called Lowland Isle, and it is a part of the Tide Isles area.”
Shop Option - Nothing, Opens Shop I assume

Extra Town NPCs

We got Bootleg Drake, Shopkeep Morock, and Overwatch Moira

Nothing special I thought these were funny

I really found this interesting and managed to create some ideas for drawing later on, so yeah that’s it. I have to mention that this is old as shit so this game is mainly non-canon at this point

i still find it funny that the curses mentioned are mostly customs made by the admins (excluding fire, sand, and growth)

I didn’t think Curses were so big

I mean, I think curses size were based on who wielded them, like strong could mean big and vice versa if weak

I always thought they were hand sized because of their natural difficulty to find in the world, but nope. Hell I think they’re even bigger than what it is in Online Fighting

I’ve dug through Online Fighting as well and it’s fascinating to look at.

fun fact
Online Fighting’s models are filled to the brum with an old Roblox studio virus known as firespread (mostly found under the characters).
I find it kinda funny cause it implies that Vetex used free models during this time, which I’ve never really thought about but it like sort of makes sense?
