The problem with b team

Id categorize this idea as like an enhancment to immersion so in the future when i become balance lead ill make categories like this for vetex to go thru so he can always surprise us with each update with cool stuff like this.

Truw

I would vote for you, if it weren’t for this

please tell me you used speech to text and didn’t actually spell “allowed” as “aloud”

Tbh i have a couple ideas to genuinly convince vetex honestly also vetex seems like a really cool dude I always wanted to establish some type of relationship with him.

Lol Vote for Fridge on teh god

btw if we do vote, how long is the term?

chances are 0, as this will likely never happen.

but I vote fridge and onion cream, as one balancer won’t make a difference, we need multiple.

Lets start here and just get my name out there. I’ll have some things in the works that I hope I can impress Vetex with. My intentions are to simplify the balancing system and bring back more positive feedback from the community all the back lashing from what i observed is mostly from the current bteam being arrogant.

(though I do disagree with your stance on attack size changes, I’m with the balance team on that one)

the problem with bteam is that democracy fucking SUCKS. The vote system for changes is obviously pointless because changes are either heavily downvoted (community outrage), or heavily upvoted. I doubt that 90% of the people voting on the changes actually read them and just look at whichever side is winning to choose. There’s also the fact that 90% of the player base has no idea what’s actually balanced and what’s not, because they’re sheeple and will follow whoever’s opinion is loudest.

No clue what you’re referring to, nerfing sunken and buffing other armor sets is supposed to increase build variety but people don’t want their shitty fish for 50 hours items to not be broken (an entirely different rant tbh)

This is straight yap with no evidence, the current meta wouldn’t suck if doc was actually completed

More tools to deal with running will come eventually with skills that are added, but also, this isn’t a balance team issue it’s a Vetex issue.

I’d say the rest of the stuff I didn’t quote was definitely things that aren’t bteams job to do, if you want to suggest actual changes to the game do it on forums.

I’m starting to think this post was really just meant to rally forumers to push the hate bteam agenda

I see a lot of commentary on threads regarding more design/creative approaches to magics, but this is not something the balance team is responsible for unless vetex brings it up himself.

The primary duty of the Balance Team is to balance the game, to make the current mechanics as fair as can be. While we do discuss more design-oriented ideas regarding balancing, our approach to balancing must be technical and efficient because of dev time constraints (only a few days can be allocated toward balancing per patch). Our creative freedom is limited by the feasibilty of them getting added timely as well as considering how such would affect future balancing. This is why creative changes in the context of balancing are limited to places where it is only fully needed (such as total skill reworks).

As for the communication aspect of the balance team, the server is closed because most of the “feedback” in the server is just 98% yap and constructive feedback is a rare find. Given how stale the meta has gotten, there isn’t really much insight to get from other players with the changes we are already making to address balance issues. However, I acknowledge the need to hear out the community’s complaints regarding our balancing, and that is why I’ve been opening the document feedback channel whenever doc changes are published now. Regardless, I see no need for open general channels in the game’s current state until the update is released.

Generally, we are always trying to improve as a Balance Team, and I’ve been helping to ensure that we are being productive, consistent, and clear in our balancing to make sure the community understands mechanics and reasoning of our balance changes. The process of balancing is continuous and is often complex when considering how changes interact with each other, so it takes genuine effort to make sure things are in working order.

Me personally if we’re going down the route of making every magic unique then we also need to give people an option to change magic so I’m gonna do this.

Basic Magic Scrolls

Main Premise: You can get these from the Dark Sea and they have some random magic on it. They basically function as way to change the player’s magic, add more expensive stuff onto the market, and introduce people to how Lost and Ancient scrolls could work.

Optional stuff that would be cool: If we wanna be really insane we could go down the Megaten route and bring back the mutation charts and allow for the ability to craft magic (e.g Light Water, Steam, Equinox) with each of the combinations equaling a lost magic and requiring the appropriate stat points unless stated otherwise in the case of equinox being an Ancient Tier Magic. Someone else said that the magics should learn different moves, I will incorporate that into this idea too. This will work like Transmutation from HxH essentially being that you can combine the properties of both magics to learn both spell kinds, For example if I was a mage that made “Dark Snow,” I’d have the properties of both Shadow and Snow (Meaning that I can use spells from both Snow’s property type and whatever shadow counts as). Though this idea would be wild to balance effectively, it could be goated for everybody if we do this correctly.

btw Light Water = Holy Water as an example of one of these basic magic fusion, that means Holy Water is now a Lost Magic.

The Fusion Calculator days will come to AO

(I can already tell people are going to charge high prices for Shadow Scrolls)

I kind of disagree with that (at least to anywhere near the degree mentioned, probably does happen on a smaller scale), since they’re not being forced to vote nor will the voters ever personally have to take responsibility for it.

My guess for a lot of the issues with voting are more influenced by the disparity in what dedicated and casual players believe to be balanced. That’s not to say that one side necessarily has the “balanced” solution and the other side doesn’t, but more so certain easier builds that are more commonly used by casual players get buffed which makes sense for the dedicated players who don’t commonly use that build, but not so much for the casual players.

Although, I will acknowledge that my argument has the pretty big flaw in that joining the balance server and voting are areas where dedicated players are more likely to involved in than casual ones.

You guys add the stupidest things just to remove them later cough cough surgw grab immunity, magic stats, thermo changes the list goes on

It’s not like they can test them :sob:

No evidence? I listed countless evidence, its common known fact that b team has watered down the game😭.

how are they watering down the game by making things fair

Yeah magics are starting to become more similar now that they keep nerfing speed and unintentionally nerfing neglected builds that need it. NERF SPECIFIC BUILDS, NOT EVERYTHING.

If I could give them advice
stop trying to balance in advance by nerfing everything and trying to stop future meta.
Just nerf specific stuff like nerf speed magic affinities on attack speed not attack speed itself since it’s non meta for many other builds
