I’ma be real with you.
if lost and ancient magics are just “X base magic but different color” for ALL of them then that’s already going to be horribly disappointing.
Fair enough, but likely at least some of them are planned to be like mixtures of two recolored standard magics.
Like, Storm magic is probably going to be like white lightning mixed with blue clouds.
well yea, that’s multiple unique effects, no variation that I suggested or would suggest would look like that.
like there could be a white lightning or a blue poison if I’m really stretching it but not both on the same magic lol.
No matter the outcome here, storm magic would be very visually distinct from both of those.
Alright, fair. I am just concerned about influencing further real customization options for the sake of cosmetics, even if those cosmetics are rad.
i saw this and thought at first it was suggesting you have to grind in order to pick variants as your first magic thank god i was wrong
although i think leaderboard variants are a horrible idea
Honestly it really sucks that the PvP in this game is so bad that people actively want to see it disincentivized no matter what.
I’d love to tie things to it if it was any good.
I mostly added that just to see how the response towards tying something purely cosmetic to PvP would be and so far it has been extremely negative.
I’m honestly not that surprised, given how this may very well be the only game I’ve ever seen that’s deliberately and willingly segregated its own community between PvP and PvE as groups that actively despise each other. (this is not at all healthy for the game by any stretch of things)
its not that i think pvp shouldnt have cosmetic awards its that i think leaderboard shouldnt have variants
variants are cosmetics.
I know
Changing builds and magic is different to casting easter colored lightning for example, don’t you think?
who said anything about easter colored lightning?
don’t bring up examples that don’t exist.
also even then no lol.
why do people keep fucking asking for new vars? vetex already said he doesn’t want to make variants, and even then, any magic other than crystal, metal and earth becomes a whole different magic when you change its color
The whole suggestion is based around gaining magic variants based off of obtaining in-game badges, two of which are easter related.
But even if we were to say, for example that there wouldn’t be “easter” variants, it’d still be weird to throw out purple fire or red lightning, plus they can’t be too similarly colored to losts and ancients otherwise you’ll have people making a bunch of bait content around them.
And for this feature to make any sense, you’d have to make a variant for all the 28 magics + fighting styles and weapons per one badge, not just one or two that only a percentage of the community uses.
What a thoughtful and impressive respoonse i’m sure that will only help your case.
This would be really cool and all but there are a few problems
- Like FartCurseUser said,non-magic users would not get anything which is a problem since not everyone enjoys a magic-based classes
- Some people arent dedicated to change their magic (as a magic user) even if they get a new variant, like yeah it might look cool but if you think about it you have to change ur magic which you either dont like,or that will completely ruin ur build
For your example of “easter” lightning, shooting out pastel pink/yellow lightning makes exactly as much sense as an interchange potion rewriting your entire being.
There’s a reason its noncanon.
Gameplay >>> lore
because half the magics either only have one variant or no variants at all and that really shouldn’t be the case.
especially magics having no variants whatsoever (maybe shadow as an exception here)
That’s irrelevant, the point is shooting “easter” colored lightning or even purple fire is just goofy.
It would add little gameplay and most wouldn’t use it if it would be limited to only 1 or 2 magic variants per badge, if it affected all of them? Then it would be a massive time sink of having to think of 28+ variants per 1 badge to literally just have slightly differently colored light or wood,
why do all of your major points have little to nothing to do with the actual suggestion as it is written?
you’re attacking some shit suggestion that says every badge in the game should give a unique variant to every single magic and would take like 30 years to complete, that is not what I wrote.
