Similar to vanity, an eye toggle in the inventory allows you to hide a weapon. Hidden weapons appear only when used (selected in toolbar) and stay visible for a set period after sheathing them.
Reasons to add:
Some weapons can look bad with eachother or drip. Stuff like shields and colossal weapons can clip into each other. Swords can clip into capes etc.
This feature is purely aesthetic and doesn’t affect how the weapons function.
ao players love to customize their characters, and every weapon/relic build[1] makes it harder
there is no good reason not to add a visibility toggle to those things
there is no advantage in battle to seeing weapons on someone’s person, and there is no added immersion for people who are just pissed off that they can’t be hidden
plus boxing, handwraps suck just let us disable the damn gloves ↩︎
vetex says it wouldn’t make sense, but all our other items, tools, and holdables don’t show up until we equip them. plus the crystal orb doesn’t show up on your person at all
I remember it was planned to be able to use multiple copies of the same weapon but was never added.
Hope it gets revisited, I made a suggestion regarding it too
Terrain destruction was likely of Vetex’s lack of knowledge in fixing such things, Arcanium was already planned to be fixed way before the new team’s arrival by Vetex himself.
its almost as if every other class has this as well except for weapons..
“Imagine coming up to some dude, and he suddenly hits you with a 800 damage iron-leg crash outta nowhere”
“Imagine coming up to some dude, and he deletes you with a ultimate art metal blast outta nowhere” (or hell even just instantly blinding you with a 20x light barrage, or BOTH since barrage can be used on second magic iirc)
“Imagine coming up to some dude, and he nukes a whole area with aithoro and spirit rain outta nowhere”
every class has hidden tools except weapon, and there is no advantage nor disadvantage of seeing someone’s weapon (you aren’t gonna be tracking someone’s movement just to notice, “hey, he has triasta of bronze, a greatshield, and a greataxe”, but you will notice that after they use their moves which are what you should be focusing on)
That would be explainable lol. Strong legs, something your body has.
Magic is not a weapon, magic is in your blood, flows in your veins, whatever you describe it.
Meanwhile weapon is a different thing, not something your body contains, not something it stores, its a different object. Pulling out, for example, Sledge hammer, when you can’t see it, would be weird imo, it would be explainable unless alongside with this suggesiton, characters will have some magic circle popping up, meaning that it was stored.
so your rating is entirely for immersion rather than player convenience
either you’ve never had a weapons build or you just don’t care about drip whatsoever because anyone who has used weapons can tell you that they are often times a deal-breaker for drip
also they clip into each other which is bad for immersion, guy walking around with 3 weapons on his back that are just fused, looks bad and is just stupid
Well, do you think AO would be as good as it is right now if it had no immersion?
I’m conjurer, and I do know how weapons clip through the equipment, each other, and other stuff. Hoping it would be mentioned by someone in the future, although idk how they’ll fix it, they’ll have to add physics to weapons as well I think..
Plus imo AO barely has any good clothes for vanity lol, if not limited or other unobtainable at this moment stuff.
Anyway, I believe we both understood our points and views
yes and no, some of the immersion features are fine and actually good for the game (needing to eat food for energy, weather system, daylight system, technically there are more things that fall under immersion but you get the gist) whereas some of the other features simply degrade the experience (dirt, tanning, armor breaking, etc), and weapon clipping falls under the second category
