I still do not see your point. You are paying to play the game. You don’t have to do any bug finding if you want to, it’s simply being paid access so that we don’t have to wait for the game to be completed. We want the game sooner, and it’s what we’re getting, and we know it’s complete. So again, what the hell is the problem here? It’s not warped.

My guy, you are paying 100 R$ for the game not for beta testing lmao your comparison (and no offense) is pretty shit, in no way when you play AO beta are you forced to start “looking for bugs”, of course, you could do it if you want but I guarantee you that 99% of the player base will just be enjoying the game. A better comparison would be paying to be able to stay at a motel, you can clean it up if you want but most people just stay there to sleep for the night and that’s it, in no way are you forced to do anything bruh, the whole point of beta testing isn’t just for players to manually report bugs but to find bugs much quicker with the influx of people

1. I notice how you consistently use the word force as though I have previously implied Vetex is strapping people to chairs and forcing them to play. It’s pretty funny imagery, but it’s still wrong.

2. That’s a very interesting observation. Saying that “the whole point of beta testing isn’t just for…” implies that the statement you made before is true but is not the only true statement out of a set of statements. Well, seeing as I never stated that this was the only purpose of a beta test, we should be in agreement there.

3. The motel comparison would only make sense with further elaboration: Imagine if the motels haven’t yet been released to the public and has only be tried out by select members of the motel company. Furthermore, just “cleaning up” wouldn’t make sense. The motel has not been released. If a particularly serious lapse of judgment happened to be made (not saying this is LIKELY to occur but it is a definite possibility), then what? It makes more sense for such a thing to be free. The testers can be filtered out (and probably should be) by any other mechanism other than money in both the case of the motel and the game. Have them take a quiz? Make sure they fit certain categories (like having played a game made by the same “company” before or being a certain age)? Make it a first come first serve system?

the way i see a paid beta is that it keeps new players out, to prevent them getting bad first impressions and never playing again due to the game being unfinished or buggy

paid access forces you to actually look into what a game is before you play it instead of clicking play without reading the description

also paid early access has been a thing for years, and is especially common on roblox so this isnt some sort of unique situation and seems more like a random nitp

Is the concept of early access foreign to you? You know it’s not at all a new thing and exists outside of roblox games right. Early bird promotion, exclusive first access to prototypes, etc.

You’re paying for priority access to the product, you’re not paying to test the product. By that logic any act of playing the game would just be for the sake of giving the dev balancing feedback

2. Seeing as said “product” is still in the beta stages (i.e. incomplete), this makes no sense whatsoever. There is no “product”; it’s still being made. I swear, the gaming industry is like one of the only industries where this is ever done.

Fair on your part. I don’t think it’s bad for you to buy it or anything, just that it’s warped that the opportunity exists. It’s not like allowing paid access will lead to the end of the world or anything, nor is Vetex committing some morally heinous act by doing it. In the post where I brought it up, I really spoke about it in passing and it eventually got escalated somehow.

Personally, even with all my talking points I’d still buy it if I were waiting in forums for like 2 years for this to release. Perhaps the only reason why I can be so detached is because I haven’t been anticipating it for that long.

Oh, my bad. That’s good then, I guess.
Personally, I think it’s kind of warped to essentially get people to beta-test your game for you for money (ideally having players essentially help you without a salary should at least be free) but this is the state of the gaming industry so it’s not like it’s a specifically Vetex issue anyway. I also understand he might want to get a steady stream of income while concentrating on the game, though I have no idea about the state of Vetex’s wallet anyhow.

I will blame this on you forgetting to read ahead of the thread like a normal human being, but only to be charitable.
