What impact do you think the existence of Deepwoken will have on AO?

I still do not see your point. You are paying to play the game. You don’t have to do any bug finding if you want to, it’s simply being paid access so that we don’t have to wait for the game to be completed. We want the game sooner, and it’s what we’re getting, and we know it’s complete. So again, what the hell is the problem here? It’s not warped.

  1. I notice how you consistently use the word force as though I have previously implied Vetex is strapping people to chairs and forcing them to play. It’s pretty funny imagery, but it’s still wrong.

  2. That’s a very interesting observation. Saying that “the whole point of beta testing isn’t just for…” implies that the statement you made before is true but is not the only true statement out of a set of statements. Well, seeing as I never stated that this was the only purpose of a beta test, we should be in agreement there.

  3. The motel comparison would only make sense with further elaboration: Imagine if the motels haven’t yet been released to the public and has only be tried out by select members of the motel company. Furthermore, just “cleaning up” wouldn’t make sense. The motel has not been released. If a particularly serious lapse of judgment happened to be made (not saying this is LIKELY to occur but it is a definite possibility), then what? It makes more sense for such a thing to be free. The testers can be filtered out (and probably should be) by any other mechanism other than money in both the case of the motel and the game. Have them take a quiz? Make sure they fit certain categories (like having played a game made by the same “company” before or being a certain age)? Make it a first come first serve system?

The children actually WANT to mow those lawns, so there’s no problem!!!

Nah.

By that logic, a whole swathe of illegal activities would be legal. After all, don’t want to use a product? Don’t buy it then. Not saying you are de-facto wrong, but this just isn’t a point.

  1. Your first point makes sense, though the suggestions I made in my reply to @CrimsonCreate would accomplish the same things.

  2. In a platform in which the average age is like 12? Objectively untrue. Besides, there would be no NEED to worry about this if the suggestions I made in my reply to CrimsonCreate were adhered to.

  3. Yeah. That’s why I have stated that this is not a problem I specifically have with Vetex but with the gaming community. How many times will I have to repeat this?

  1. See reply #3 to the question directly above yours. I guess this makes it about 5 times I’ve had to encounter this same point that I had already preemptively dismissed.

  2. Seeing as said “product” is still in the beta stages (i.e. incomplete), this makes no sense whatsoever. There is no “product”; it’s still being made. I swear, the gaming industry is like one of the only industries where this is ever done.

in that case theres no point in trying to argue with you, if thats something you dont like in the gaming industry then all you can do to protest against it is not pay for early access games

your trolling right

Can we not jump this guy

Agreed, which is why this entire “argument” started with me stating as such.
Well, with me stating that this wasn’t a problem I specifically had with Vetex, anyway. I don’t know why people are latching on that argument, it’s probably be rage-induced blindness or something.

Good god, at least try to make your attempts at coping less obvious. I know it’s the internet, but this is kind of sad.
If my points are so incorrect, you should be able to dismantle them with a lot less than a 10 page essay, no? God damn.

yeah ill stop replying to them because theres already way too many people arguing with 1 person and i dont want to start another big argument + the same few points are being brought up over and over

In my opnion, paid early acess is fine, we are not paying to be forced to test and find bugs in the game, we are just paying to play the game earlier(ive been waiting 2 years for this lmaoo)
And well, if you dont want pay for a incomplete game, it gonna become free when its complete

my man what

Fuck no AO should be paid to join when no finish we must support good developer :DD

You’re comparing paying somebody to let you mow their lawn to paying somebody to let you play a game.
One is a game and the other is a chore.

If you don’t see how this is a terrible comparison and incredibly flawed logic then I can’t help you.

I mean seriously, go anywhere that isn’t roblox and you’ll be paying $10 for far less game.

Fair on your part. I don’t think it’s bad for you to buy it or anything, just that it’s warped that the opportunity exists. It’s not like allowing paid access will lead to the end of the world or anything, nor is Vetex committing some morally heinous act by doing it. In the post where I brought it up, I really spoke about it in passing and it eventually got escalated somehow.

Personally, even with all my talking points I’d still buy it if I were waiting in forums for like 2 years for this to release. Perhaps the only reason why I can be so detached is because I haven’t been anticipating it for that long.

Funny how with your infinite wisdom you can’t explain yourself without simply restating what you’ve already said. It should be so obvious no? But yet an explanation is not provided. You do at least understand how your position sounds to me, right? You make a statement, and then you refuse to sufficiently elaborate over and over again, expecting me to understand either out of stubbornness or the belief that “it’s so obvious”. I’ve already made my point, I’m too lazy to type something up again.

Does this count as example #6? I think it does.
I think I’ll just post the original comment now. I don’t want to repeat myself.

I will blame this on you forgetting to read ahead of the thread like a normal human being, but only to be charitable.
