What was your favorite part of WoM?

It is a major plot point that the AO main character is just built different.
Strongest will of all legacies.

Minotaur world boss ptsd

Let’s see here…
PK:

  • Killed the undead king of a country
  • Defended a town from a lost magic user who was later reformed
  • Killed another undead king of a country

AO MC:

  • Is about to kill the undead king of a country when full release comes out
  • Defended a town from a lost magic user who was later reformed
  • Killed the active king of a country, and wounded the heir

I could go on, but let’s leave it there.

Fine, the AA protagonist quite possibly killed Prometheus, defeated Durza, etc.

However, this is reasonably after the progression point that AO is in. We can relate Sameria to the third sea’s Sabura, and by proxy, place anything after that as unfair, due to it being past the AO protagonist’s progression.
And I do believe that the Nimbus Sea will go out with a bang similar to the third sea.

Explain how nimbus = aa third sea and not second please
(Also sabura wasnt in aa lol!)

COUGH COUGH MEETING THE “APEX OF THIS WORLD” COUGH COUGH

It’s not as simple as just a numbered system of 1-6. That’s why AA has 7.
It’s based on gameplay comparisons. For example, placing Verdies’ battle in place of the Elius fight, because they both take place early in the game on some of the first sky islands after the part where you save a small town from certain doom, occasionally thought to be caused by a natural disaster.

this shit peak dialogue

more reason for reborn being the goat

WoM dialogue was high-key dookie.
Arcane Reborn is only occasionally better, but usually worse somehow. For an example, talk to any NPC on Mavist Island, and if I’m not mistaken, those are Vetex’s fault.

imagine if that bang is actually somehow killing one of Wotan’s sons

the comically large spoon im gonna throw their ass into the ocean with:

(they do have curses right?)

the bang is actually filtering enable v2 comes around and vetex abandons ao

yeah they do

“According to my sources, and my sources are always right.”
Thats 100% a quote im using for the rest of my life

the new chat api update in question:

I loved how it felt almost as if our character were a part of the world. I enjoyed the threat system and how big the world felt and wallking all over the map.
Even in the new WOM, just flying over the whole continent and being able to appreciate it in all of its entirety is seriously amazing. It really does look like a whole new world out there, and you can explore every little bit of it.
I only wish that the entire map could have been finished, or if ships could have been added to the game.

The thing about WoM is that Magius felt like it really was a continent, unlike in AO where every island is relatively small/medium sized with most of the bigger islands being centralized points of interest separated by empty space. WoM was like that too, except in WoM there were things like bandit outposts Magic Council camps, and notorious/famous Hero strongholds that a player can interact with(positively or negatively- you always had a choice between killing an NPC or taking their quest in WOM). Sure, we have something similar with bounty NPCs, but they’re all the same. NPCs in WoM had the capacity to actually attack other NPCs, and they could even start town Threats all on their own depending on how close they spawn to a town.

But I can’t exactly wish that for AO. That almost “realistic” feeling WoM had was only possible due to free roaming NPCs. It’d be nice if randomized events could happen on towns, though I have heard that something similar to an “island threat” would be coming soon in the Kingdoms Update. Other than that, it’d be cool if NPCs could also claim islands, and players can gain rewards other than pure infamy from contesting them. I have some ideas, but those thoughts are irrelevant to the current topic.

The music of WoM also contributed to its wonder. The games structure is similar to BoTW- a large, nonlinear open world with amazing music following the player all throughout their journey. WoM has that same feeling too, for the first go-around. You really can do anything, hell, if you wanted to kill King David Silver at level 1, it’s not completely impossible. (It was a popular trend among experienced players to fight him at level 20 or so, but a few managed to solo him at level 1.)

I think that really might be it. The nonlinear open world, the towns, the map- the freedom the player had to do whatever they wanted to do really hammered it in for me.

Someone else made this point before, but AO’s map is much too linear. With the Bronze Sea Map sending players further down as they progress the story, players will inevitablely find themselves only experiencing as much of the map as the storyline leads them to. When I first played AO, I didn’t even know Thorins Refuge existed until hour I finished the story.

The experience I remember the most about playing World of Magic would be spawning in Riverville, stumbling upon Summer Hold, and getting oneshotted by King David at level 20. That experience can hardly be replicated by AO- finding something you know must be important whilst being unable to fully grasp it. Then you come back at a higher level and see what it’s all about- which mostly applies to story NPCs in WoM, but it’s the same difference.
(The closest you can get to this is being level 50 and getting murdered by a Rival NPC at Harvest Island. Even at that, it’s just any old replicable bounty NPC that holds no significance to the world of AO.)

Despite this, I’ll probably never play WoM again. I enjoy AOs combat too much, and although AO might not feel like an open world, by definition it is. I’ll never forget WoM for as long as I lived, but the past is the past.

TL;DR: nita from brawl stars is literally megumi from JJK. cordelius has a domain expansion. mandy’s super is hollow purple. enough said.

honestly, yeah, i agree with pretty much everything here
wom is special primarily because of how immersive it is, which is just something ao fails at. hopefully full release will focus on the aspects of the game that will actually make it more immersive rather than dirt
