again… you signed up to be constantly ganked for the number you attached to your file, you can limit your renown if you don’t want to be ganked in Sameria; and if you want open world PvP, you can invite people to duels. You may also leave the setting on yet make sure you keep your renown below the spawnpoint threshold which is already double that of the typical renown limit.
You are creating your own problem when there are several solutions to get rid of the problem.
If you don’t wish to be ganked, then don’t put yourself in the “please gank me for my number” mode???
we signed up for a renown-based shop and the default mechanics of the game giving this stuff to us.
You do realize ganking is the negative consequence of having every top player spawn in the same spot, right? It’s not an intentional feature, that would be sucky design! Denying an obvious fix to the problem is nothing less than an embarrassment.
as i said, i didnt “sign up for it” its simply there, and what im saying, is theres such small anything got from getting it, that its simply not worth having, which is why EVERYONE will turn off pvp because theres just about no benfit to having it on or having renown, nothing comes out of it, and everything negative comes from it
Honestly I’m down for being bounty hunted from time to time, but spawn ganking is just moronic to keep on purpose. It’s an actual glaring design flaw to have players hunt each other in this game and have them spawn in the same spot to remove the need for hunting.
So people get the reward for hunting down a target without actually needing to do it
There are two shops, the actually useful items obtained from the shops are obtainable without putting yourself in the “I want to always be available to fight” mode. Everything else is an item exclusively meant to look like something on your player.
Ganking is annoying, but thats how player battles are, you fight to gain an advantage; same reason why you an witch-hunt a high renown player, you’re supposed to be ready to fight under any situation.
Inversely, imagine having to hunt players, yet anytime you approach them, they can remove themselves from this instance of this world, and spawn in an unknown location for you. There is basically no way to keep this fair, without it being annoying because its player vs player competition on a field where one party doesn’t consent.
You say ganking is annoying as if that’s a neutral quality. If it’s annoying, that’s bad.
Use tactics. Stay hidden until you reach your target, then hit them without them seeing you, so they get put into combat. If they still leave, you win.
No. I don’t even get Ganked myself inspite of having PvP on because my renown is not very high. Most of my fights happen in duels.
Again though, the entire feature around hunting was meant to incite ganking— meaning it unsurprisingly makes ganking pretty easy to achieve on targets that leave themselves open to it.
i have TRIED to avoid a gank, you basically cant run away, and nor can you fight ive fought 3 people at once, even killing most of them, your probably not gonna be able to kill them all before the other ones get back, ESPECIALLY when they set up camps
Tbf, you probably shouldn’t be going AFK in most cases anyways. Like if you have notoriety, going AFK basically kills you anyways.
The area combat tag from banners is also annoying, but like— i don’t think there is any feasable way to make un-consentual open world combat be fair for every party involved. The only option is to remove it from the game; which would also get complaints as that would probably hurt things like clan battles and just general fights.
the problem is itself, the nature of the mechanic, which you can avoid— but its existence serves you no benefit other than vanity.
Who say high renown suppose to be good thing? All the rules is set for those who want to take the risk. You sign up for it the moment you go beyond 250k
I’m not trying to argue that ganking is good— but there really isn’t anything you can do to make it such without also changing it to be “duels but forced”. There are some minor remedies, but at the end of the day, it’s a feature thats mainly intended for those who are fine with experiencing such casualties.
Renown, is part of that system, and trying to gain it leaves you vulnerable to its effects.
number that goes up when you complete challenges, of course you’d want it to be high. It’s not secluded to just PvP, it’s rewarded for everything in the game.
It has previously and still is used to determine what players should be rewarded with, formerly with deckhands, currently with joinable faction ranks and renown shops.
